Three days later, Thalassa was almost back to her old self.
Alaric was busy packing her suitcase while Hertha folded her clothes, feeling sorry for Thalassa with every piece she laid down.
"Thalassa, you've been in the hospital for two days, and aside from me and Alaric looking after you, not a single soul has come to visit. How come you're so alone?" Hertha spoke the harsh truth. Thalassa was all by herself, without a single person to care for her. It was just too lonely.
"Actually, my aunt called yesterday. I told her I was doing fine, just so she wouldn't worry. If she knew I was in the hospital, she'd definitely come to visit," Thalassa said with a smile, trying to comfort Hertha. That smile was her way of saying she wasn't completely alone; she cared more about not worrying those who cared about her.
"Your aunt's arthritis is being treated by Dr. Funke. They've really hit it off, which is great. She definitely shouldn't be worried," Hertha nodded, understanding.
"So, see? I'm not alone. Don't worry about me," Thalassa said, patting Hertha on the shoulder, comforting her instead.
"How could I not worry about you? I'm your best friend. And what about Lysander? Doesn’t he know you're hurt and in the hospital? Even if you can't be together, you can still be friends, right? Not even a call or a visit!" Hertha's real grievance, it seemed, was with Lysander.
She was full of complaints about Lysander. When Thalassa was hurt in the past, he was the first to fret over her, even getting himself badly injured in an attempt to save her.
Times change, and so do people.
Now Thalassa was hurt, and Lysander seemed not to care at all.
