The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet novel Chapter 1947

Leopold was the epitome of sunshine, optimism, and kindness. The guy hadn't even been able to harm a fly, let alone disregard a human life.

"I don't want to believe it either!" Thalassa's voice cracked with emotion, trying to get Callum to see reason.

Her outburst seemed to cool his heated state a bit, but he still couldn't bring himself to accept it, looking at Thalassa with a mix of heartbreak and anger.

Taking a deep breath, Thalassa spelled it out for him, "But it's the truth! Payton and Amelia, Leopold's own parents, confirmed it! How could they possibly tarnish their son's name? Even if Leopold took his own life out of guilt, they blamed Lysander, stripping him of his CEO title. If it weren't true, they could've continued to claim Leopold was driven to it by Lysander, not that he died because he was guilty!"

Callum, driven by impulse, stepped forward, his hand gripping Thalassa's jaw tightly, his expression twisted in fury. "Thalassa, how can you say such things about Leopold? He did everything with you in mind, every single action was for you. And now, you're saying he took two lives and killed himself out of guilt?"

Thalassa winced under his grip, feeling Callum's anger and desperation. She knew this version of Leopold was hard for him to swallow.

But it was the stark reality.

"Callum, I'm just stating the facts. Can't you face reality?" Thalassa implored, despite the pain.

"The 'reality' I know is that Leopold loved you deeply, willing to die for you!" Callum's voice was heavy, each word bitten off with vehemence.

He was determined to make Thalassa feel guilty for Leopold's love.

He dismissed any so-called facts, his disbelief and indifference to them clear as day.

This aggressive, almost irrational version of Callum frightened Thalassa. His proximity, the way his body nearly pinned hers to the bed, his breath hot against her face—all of it made her skin crawl with resistance.

Thalassa feared what he might do next.

"Callum, let go of me. Do you think Leopold would be happy with you treating me this way?" she said nervously.

"How dare you mention Leopold!" Callum's emotions teetered on the edge of control, his grip tightening painfully.

His cheeks trembled from clenching his teeth. "Thalassa, Leopold loved you for years without reciprocation! And I, as Leopold's best friend, will fulfill the regrets he left behind!"

Thalassa's heart raced, sensing danger in his words.

As Callum leaned in, his lips inching closer, Thalassa's alarm bells rang. She turned her head away, avoiding his touch, her voice tense and urgent, "Callum, let me go, stop it! You know this is against the law, right?"

Callum chuckled coldly in her ear, "The cops are already after me. What's one more charge?"
