The Billionaire’s Secret Quartet novel Chapter 1987

The misunderstanding couldn't have been bigger. How could Hertha ever think that?

Right now, Alaric was a bundle of emotions—thrilled yet anxious.

The thrill came from the fact that there were no children between him and Georgia; the whole drama was a solo act by Georgia.

The anxiety stemmed from Hertha believing he conspired with Georgia to deceive her—all to avoid marrying her!

To be with Hertha, he didn’t hesitate to leave the prestigious Falconer family behind, opting for a life as an average Joe. How could she think he'd join forces with Georgia just to dodge responsibility?

Right then, he wished he could sprout wings and fly straight to Hertha, to show her his heart and tell her he was duped by Georgia too.

The phone rang for a long time until it went to voicemail.

Alaric hurriedly drove to Hertha's office, only to be told she hadn’t come in that day.

Next, he rushed to Hertha's house. This time, he didn't hold back, marching right up to her doorstep and knocking.

The door was opened by Kimberly.

Seeing Hertha's mom, Alaric was about to greet her with his usual cheeky "Hey, Mom," but the look in Kimberly's eyes made him switch gears mid-greeting. He awkwardly laughed off his initial approach, correcting himself, "Kimberly, is Hertha home?"

"Daddy, daddy's here!" a chorus of little voices came from inside.

Then, Alaric saw two little heads peeking around Kimberly's legs, both eagerly looking up at him.

Helena, with her pigtails and bright, innocent eyes, beamed at Alaric, her voice full of childish excitement, "Daddy!"

Julian, with his round, sparkling eyes, was equally thrilled, exclaiming, "Daddy!"
