She grabbed her bag, ready to bolt, but Miles quickly reached out to stop her.
After all, aside from his sister, he didn't know who else to turn to for advice in matters of the heart!
Asking Felicity directly hadn't worked. She just wouldn't open up.
"Chase after her, and she'll agree to marry me?"
"Bro, why is 'marriage' the only thing on your mind? You come off like you're just trying to be responsible, not like you're in love with Felicity."
"..."
Miles was a simple guy at heart. He believed that once you've been intimate, the next steps were to inform the parents, get a marriage license, and make it official.
Beyond that, he hadn't thought much.
"If I weren't your sister, I'd honestly not want to be your love guru. It's a heart attack waiting to happen." Aurora counted off on her fingers, "Every girl dreams of romance – holding hands while walking down the street, the thrill of getting flowers on an anniversary, and that electric spark when your eyes meet! Oh, and most importantly, a proper proposal!"
Miles frowned slightly.
This all seemed rather complicated...
"When Dad was wooing Mom, he went all out with the romance. And here you are, trying to skip straight to marrying Felicity! If I were her, I wouldn't want to marry you either!"
"So, if I do all that, she'll say yes?"
"It's like buying a lottery ticket. Does the seller promise you'll win just because you buy a ticket? You only find out after you've bought it! How will you know the outcome if you don't even try?"
It was rare for Miles to get a lecture from Aurora, and he had no choice but to listen.
He understood each of her points, but putting them all together...was a bit tricky.
"Got it?"
"Yeah."
