The feel of her skin was something he could still remember vividly.
Felicity blinked, suddenly aware of her somewhat revealing outfit.
She reached out to take the jacket he offered and draped it over her shoulders. "Did the doctor check this out? Is it going to scar?"
"No, it won't."
"Oh."
Felicity eyed him, pressing her lips together in a thin line, remaining silent for nearly a minute before speaking up. "Well, if you're alright then, I guess I'll head back."
After all, he seemed like he didn't really need her around.
Standing here was just awkward.
Miles didn't say anything, and with a heavy sigh, Felicity turned to leave.
Suddenly, she felt a firm grip on her wrist.
Turning back, Miles finally looked up at her.
"Don't go."
"Not now, not to Anglonia. Just don't go."
"Felicity, I didn’t come here to rehash why we broke up."
Felicity didn’t beat around the bush either, she wanted to be clear.
His eyes stung, his heart feeling like it was punched again. "Your coming here means you still care."
"Of course, I care! I’ll always care about you." Her words came out naturally, as if it was the most obvious thing in the world. "Because you're like a brother to me. You’ve always looked out for me, played with me. No matter what happens between us, we’re still family."
"But I don’t want to be your brother!" Miles's grip tightened unintentionally. "We were so close, so very close, to getting married."
He could have been Felicity’s husband, rightfully spending his life with her!
If it wasn’t for that bridal shop incident, right now, he should have been holding her close, lying in the same bed.
Perhaps they would have been up late, discussing which dresses looked best in daylight.
