"Regrets?"
His brows furrowed slightly, "After all this... you're still leaving?"
"Yeah." Felicity nodded, "Like you said, breaking up with Esther was too abrupt, not good. Our breakup was just as sudden, I didn't give you time to adjust."
Seeing all her belongings still scattered around the house made her uneasy.
It was suffocating.
"So... let's consider tonight a proper goodbye. After this, let's not bring up our past."
As she reached for his jeans, intending to help him out of them, she was stopped before she could even touch him.
"?"
"Let's get back together, no breaking up."
Miles's gaze was intense.
She shook her head, "No."
"Then, we're not doing this."
"..."
"Felicity, unless you take back your decision to break up, I'm not touching you."
He decisively got out of bed, his body still visibly reacting, but he refused to lay a hand on her.
"Wait here for a moment. I'll call my assistant to drive you home."
"What about this..."
"I won't touch you without being in a proper relationship." Miles's lips formed a straight line, his voice husky, "Felicity, we're not breaking up. The wedding is still on."
After a long silence, she finally adjusted her slipping nightgown strap.
"Have your assistant take me home."
...
Felicity woke up the next morning feeling heavy-eyed and feverish, probably from running out into the cold night air.
Struggling to get up, she took some fever reducer from the medicine cabinet.
In the living room, Karen Miller saw her and raised an eyebrow, "Felicity, you alright? Feeling sick?"
