Making Amends?
"I can talk to him. The person who got hit, I know him. He's my... friend."
Aurora was in the dark about the full story.
But she was convinced that Craig wasn't the type to act on impulse.
"That would be perfect! Do you want me to bring him in so you can talk?"
"Yes, thank you."
Aurora waited in the inquiry room for a while before she saw Duncan walking in.
The injury on his face...
"Aurora."
"Is this from Craig?"
Duncan nodded, his hand clutching a bag of ice against his cheek, "Yes! I just told him to treat you right, to cherish you. Craig took it as an insult and threw a punch!"
He had completely erased the surveillance audio.
So, whatever Duncan said went unchallenged!
After all, there was no denying Craig had hit someone.
Deep down, Aurora didn't believe Craig would hit someone without reason, but... she knew he struggled with feelings of insecurity.
And right now, solving this problem was urgent! They couldn't let Craig stay in detention, especially with their wedding tomorrow.
"Duncan, I'm sorry on Craig's behalf, okay? You tell me how much you want for compensation, for medical expenses, and I'll cover it! Considering I'm friends with your sister, can't you forgive Craig this once?"
"Should you be the one paying for this?" Duncan looked puzzled. "He's the one who hit me, and now a woman has to clean up his mess! Aurora, you really should think it over, whether you want to marry him or not."
Aurora bristled at those words.
She frowned, "Craig and I are about to get married. We're family. His problems are my problems. There's no mine or yours."
"I just think... a man should take responsibility! Without money, there's no talking about responsibility."
"That's your opinion."
