Leopold thought, “I was overthinking it. William was just William, son of Arnold, not my Liam.”
Even if William were Liam reincarnated, he was no longer the Liam of old.
A nameless despondency washed over Leopold like relentless waves, ebbing and flowing in his heart.
He had an intuition that there was some secret between William and Kane. If William wasn't Liam, then what was their secret?
At that moment, William was in Aurelia’s room.
“Mommy, Uncle Leopold really sneaked into my room and pulled out my hair. Good thing I was clever enough to wear a wig, or I would have been toast.”
Aurelia pressed her hand to her forehead. Honestly, for a second, she wished Leopold would uncover the secret so she wouldn't have to keep playing both sides.
Leopold must have been so disappointed when he saw the paternity test results.
Would he hold a grudge against her and never forgive her?
"William, I think you should prepare yourself mentally. That day is bound to come. Look at Leopold. Every time he mentions Liam, he gets so sad. On Liam's death anniversary and his birthday, Leopold visits his grave and even offers handmade toys for him. But Leopold never knew that the grave doesn't hold his Liam, but an unidentified child. Don't you think Leopold is pitiable?"
William lowered his gaze, his thick lashes casting a shadow. “Mommy, don’t you want to have a baby sister? Just go ahead and have one, then Uncle Leopold won't fuss over me anymore.”
Aurelia wrapped her arms around his shoulders, “No matter how many children I have, none can replace you. No matter how much time passes, Leopold will still miss Liam.”
William pouted, “I was kidnapped by the bad guys as soon as I was born. Uncle Leopold never even saw my face. How could he care about me so much?”
Aurelia replied softly, “But you are still his son. Every time he sees Kane, he’ll be reminded of you.”
