William sighed, the weight of his young world pressing down on his shoulders, "But I'm still just a kid, growing up feels like a million miles away."
Skyler, always the voice of reason, chimed in, "Think of it this way, your mom's new hubby is your Uncle Leopold, so you're all still family. It's not like you've been split apart. Now, if she married some dude who had nothing to do with your dad, that would be scary."
"Well, that's a silver lining, I suppose," William muttered, his lips curling into a smirk. He knew that Leopold was more than just an uncle, and Leopold was his biological father.
"Why don't you like Leopold?" Skyler prodded gently, "He's a good guy and he's always nice to you."
William replied, "Because I have my own dad, and if I start liking him, my dad will be hurt."
Skyler exhaled a long sigh. Arnold and Leopold were like two rams locking horns, both vying for Angel's affection. If William started treating Leopold like his dad, Arnold would definitely not be thrilled.
"It's a tricky situation," Skyler pondered, "Maybe just hang out with Leopold when Arnold isn't around. And when he is, you stay on his team."
"No way," William shook his head, "I don't want to play those games."
Scratching his head in confusion, Skyler said, "So, what are we gonna do?"
William shrugged nonchalantly, "I don’t know."
"But, William, even if you're doing it for your dad, you can't stop them from having more kids," Skyler pointed out, "They've only got Kane, and they'll probably want a whole bunch more. I've got three brothers and a sister, you know."
William pouted, "Why does a family need that many kids anyway?"
"Because Angel loves little ones," Skyler explained, "If Kane didn't want any siblings, maybe they'd consider his feelings. But you, you're not their kid."
