Aurelia was frantically looking for Kerry when Beverley firmly grabbed her hand. "That's Natasha, the tarot reader. Let's go over and say hello. Maybe she can give us some insight."
Aurelia followed her gaze and saw a middle-aged woman in a bohemian maxi dress with a feathered headband. A purple crystal ball sat on the table before her, reminiscent of a medieval European witch.
She followed Beverley over to Natasha.
"This is my sister-in-law, Aurelia. Could you do a reading for her?" Beverley greeted Natasha.
Natasha nodded, leading them to a quiet room upstairs.
She handed the tarot cards to Aurelia to shuffle.
Aurelia focused, clearing her mind of thoughts, and followed her intuition. She shuffled the cards several times, drawing from the deck and placing them on top.
Then, she spread the cards face down in a circle on the table and shuffled them clockwise, silently asking her question. Finally, she gathered the cards together, laying them horizontally.
The next step was to cut the deck.
Aurelia picked up a portion of the deck and placed it under the remaining cards. Then, she took another portion from the new top and placed it on the original top.
There were three stacks of cards on the table.
Natasha put the cards back into one stack, rotating them counterclockwise to place them vertically.
Then, based on Aurelia's question, she laid out a hexagram spread.
The first card revealed was The Moon, upright.
This card represents confusion, struggle, and unease. A lobster crawls from the water under the moonlight, moving towards the Moon Goddess. It has to choose the correct tower in the distance to approach the Moon Goddess. But it doesn't know which one to choose.
The second card was The Chariot, upright.
This card represents relentless struggle, never giving up, no matter how many obstacles lie ahead.
The third card was The Hanged Man, upright.
