The CEO's Unplanned Heir novel Chapter 563

Skyler beamed at William. "You're my very first friend. Before, no one... no one wanted to be my friend."

"Why not?" William inquired.

"They thought... thought I was dumb."

"You're not dumb at all. You're super smart."

"They wouldn't play with me. They just wanted to copy... my homework and the bullies always picked on me," Skyler said, his voice tinged with hurt.

William raised his little hand and patted Skyler's shoulder. "From now on, I'll play with you. I'll protect you. If anyone tries to bully you, I'll teach them a lesson."

"Yeah, then we'll be best friends for life."

"Deal. Pinky swear." William stretched out his pinky finger.

Skyler mimicked him, linking pinkies. "Pinky swear, no breaking it for a lifetime."

Aurelia bought a few toys for both boys and asked the bodyguard to take them to the car.

Then she took them out for some ice cream.

William dug into his little backpack and pulled out a toy spaceship.

"Skyler, I made this. It's a gift for you 'cause we're best friends."

Skyler felt a warm rush of gratitude. "William, you're so good to me. I'll always think of you as my very best friend."

Aurelia sensed that Skyler's childhood must have been lonely without friends. He was yearning for the companionship of kids of his age.

To him, she, Leopold, and Leah were like older siblings and authority figures. Only kids could be his true friends.

When Skyler and William wanted to go to the restroom, Leopold had the bodyguard accompany them.

Skyler sneakily pulled out a peculiar-looking stamp from his backpack.

"William, I want to give you a gift too," he whispered, "This is the Reaper's Stamp. If someone bullies you, or if you meet a bad guy, stamp it on them secretly, and the Grim Reaper will take them away. I'm giving it to you 'cause you're my best friend."

William's eyes widened with curiosity. "For real? The Grim Reaper will take them away?"
