Megan's gaze held a chilling glint as she spotted her, a storm brewing in the depths of her eyes.
“Aurelia, you slut. How dare you sneak around with my husband while I’m away? Nice try!” She swore in her heart.
With a possessive grip, she latched onto Leopold's arm, raising her voice intentionally as she cooed, "Honey. Why didn't you tell me about this little getaway? I've been so bored at home all alone. I've been dying to get out and clear my head."
Leopold knitted his brows, gently prying her hand away. "Didn't I tell you to stay put? It's dangerous for you to wander off like this."
"As long as I'm with you, I'm not afraid of anything,” Megan said with a pout.
Ever since she'd been tied to the bed, she'd slept straight through the night, immobile even when she woke up startled, resigning herself to slumber after a few futile struggles.
Aurelia felt a twist in her heart with bitterness spreading from her tongue to her stomach.
"We should head back to our room and leave you two alone," she said, her voice steady but cold.
Leading William and Skyler toward their room, she felt their curious eyes on her.
"Who is she?" Skyler asked with innocent intrigue.
"Just a nasty piece of work," William muttered, his excitement soured by Megan's presence. He knew their fun was over when she arrived.
Skyler pulled a face. "Why would Leopold hang out with a bad woman?"
"I'm just a kid. How should I know? Adults' world is complicated," William said with a dramatic sigh, his arms crossed as if he were an old soul trapped in a young body.
Skyler mimicked his sigh. "I’m a kid, too. I don’t get it, either."
Aurelia instructed their bodyguard to escort them back. "Skyler, rest up a bit. I'll come get you for dinner."
"Okay," Skyler nodded obediently.
"Mommy, can I go play in Leopold's room?" William asked, looking up at her with hopeful eyes.
