Megan felt a storm raging within her heart. Her secret was out. Everyone in the Stirling family was in on it.
It had to be that snake, Aurelia, spreading lies and sullying her name.
"Melissa, did Aurelia fill your head with nonsense? Don't believe a word she says. Ever since Leopold dumped her and married me, she's been bitter, trying to drag my name through the mud. Whatever she told you, don't buy it."
Although Melissa had her doubts about Aurelia's words, it seemed far-fetched that she would link Megan to some criminal organization without reason.
"If you've done nothing wrong, no amount of mudslinging can touch you," Melissa countered, "Innocence shines through lies."
Megan clenched her teeth in secret frustration, "Did Aurelia tell you that I've got ties with that criminal organization? Do you honestly think I'd do something like that? I've been away for six years because of amnesia, not because I was gallivanting with criminals. Aurelia's out to pin this on me, to make sure Kane secures the inheritance."
Melissa fell silent.
Deep down, she wanted to believe Megan. But the existence of the AK Group was a fact, and the police had even set up a special task force.
"Whatever the case, you can't be caught dead with that sort of crowd. The Stirling family would never open the doors to you then."
Megan was nervous.
Aurelia claimed to have evidence against her, and Megan needed to know if it was a bluff.
"I'm an Alcott heiress. I don't need to join any criminal organizations."
