Aurelia felt sleepy as she lounged in her room, thinking of a quick nap to recharge. But as she drifted on the edge of sleep, a presence slipped beside her, jolting her awake. She turned to find Leopold's strikingly handsome face inches from hers.
It didn't take a genius to figure out that Yuna had let him in.
"Mr. Leopold, sneaking into my room isn't gentlemanly, is it?"
His lips curled into a wicked grin. "Who's sneaking? I walked in as bold as brass."
Humph!
Aurelia rolled her eyes in anger. "If Megan catches us, she'll be green with envy."
"Let her have her green-eyed monster. We've got our feast right here." And with that, Leopold's hand boldly ventured beneath the hem of her nightgown.
Her face flushed with alarm, and she grabbed his wandering hand. "William will be back any minute."
"He's off playing in Skyler's room. Won't be back till dinner," Leopold countered smoothly, rolling over to pin her beneath him.
He hadn't slept a wink the previous night atop the hill, thinking of her. She owed him some physical comfort.
(Two thousand years later...)
Satisfied, Leopold withdrew and lay beside her, idly twirling strands of her hair, a contented smile on his lips.
Aurelia felt a tinge of frustration. She'd been miffed with him, determined not to yield to his touch, and yet, in the end, she'd been all too compliant.
It was evident that his good looks had scrambled her brains.
"Just don't leave any love bites on my neck. If Megan spots them later, she'll go ballistic."
He chuckled darkly. "Don't worry. From now on, I'll only leave marks where the others can't see."
"You dirty jerk," she muttered affectionately, shooting him a glare. She started to suspect he was getting too fond of their little secret rendezvous.
She had no intention of becoming his secret lover.
"Do you think Geoffrey could have followed us to the island?" she deftly changed the subject.
