The CEO's Unplanned Heir novel Chapter 616

On the deck, two night owls were sprawled out on lounge chairs under the starry sky.

Aurelia glanced at the man beside her and quipped, "Can't sleep either?"

Leopold's thin lips curved into a devilish grin, "If I were cuddling with you, I'd be out like a light."

She rolled her eyes, "Go cuddle with Megan. She's dying for your embrace at night."

"Do you really want me to go cuddle with her?" he asked, a slight frown creasing his forehead.

Aurelia smirked, "What does an ex-wife have to say about her ex-husband's affairs?"

He reached out and pinched her cheek teasingly, "Are you jealous?"

She laughed, "Why would I be jealous when I don't even like you?"

A flicker of hurt flashed through Leopold's eyes, souring his mood.

"Can't you ever say something sweet?" He complained.

She shrugged nonchalantly. "Sorry, I'm a straight shooter. I tell it like it is."

"You're a real porcupine," he said, resigned to the sting of her barbs.

Aurelia's face took on a melancholy smile, "These quills of mine, you stuck them there. Over time, they've grown into my skin, and now I'm a porcupine."

Leopold heaved a silent sigh, swallowing his bitterness

At that moment, their bodyguard approached. "Boss, you might want to check out the lower deck."

With a slight start, Leopold stood up, followed by Aurelia.

The deep twilight of the club engulfed the yacht as the sea breeze howled past.

On the center of the lower deck, a woman knelt, her eyes wide as saucers, pupils hollow and lifeless, as if her soul had fled.

In her hands, she clutched a pair of scissors.

Slowly, her arms rose, and the sound of the scissors snipping eerily in the night filled the air.

Suddenly, she began to hack away at her hair, cutting it haphazardly. Her once-lustrous locks fell around her in a ragged mess.
