"Who butchered my hair?"
The very thought of stepping out in public filled her with dread. If Leopold saw her like this, he'd be repulsed to his core.
Her bodyguard replayed the footage from last night, "Madam, you were sleepwalking again, and you chopped off your own hair."
"That's impossible. How could I sleepwalk? Someone's out to get me."
Megan was panicked. Initially, she suspected the new boss wanted to teach her a lesson, to keep her in line, but after triple-checking with the boss and confirming it had nothing to do with him or the AK Group, she knew someone else was behind it.
Suddenly, it hit her. Could it be Aurelia? Did she seek some witch to curse her as revenge?
Grabbing a wide-brimmed hat, she dashed out in tears to find Leopold.
Leopold was roused from his sleep by her commotion.
As he opened the door, she flung herself into his arms, sobbing uncontrollably, "Leopold, someone's after me and the baby. Please, you've got to help me."
Leopold looked at her, his expression icy, "Isn't this the AK Group's doing? You've been singing that tune for ages. Isn't this a mess of your own making? Who else is there to blame?"
Megan sniffled, "I don't think it's the AK Group. It's someone else."
"And what, pray tell, makes you think it's not them? Have you confirmed it with the new guy? Or are you still in cahoots with AK Group, and that's why they wouldn't lay a finger on you? All your previous claims were just lies to deceive me, weren't they?"
Leopold's barrage of questions made her feel like she had shot herself in the foot.
"I haven't been in touch with anyone, nor have I lied to you. It's just a gut feeling. I think Aurelia's behind this because she's always hated me for stealing you away."
