“Time flies. Before you know it, we've all aged, and the kids have grown up. I've been dreaming much about my childhood lately, always trailing behind you like a little shadow, begging you to play with me, sister. You knew how competitive I was and always let me have my way. During our games, you'd let me win every time..."
Her eyes were misty with tears as she spoke, dabbing at the corners with a tissue.
Jessica patted her hand gently. "There's no hurdle in life that you can’t overcome. You'll get through this. Just take it easy, and you'll heal up in no time."
Tanya looked down, her gaze filled with sorrow. "The one person I can't let go of is Skyler. If he were well, he'd probably be married with kids by now."
"Don't worry," Jessica assured her. "When he's ready to get married, I'll help him choose a girl from a good family, someone cultured and gentle who can take good care of him."
Tanya sighed. "I hope that day comes."
Leopold strolled back home with Skyler, who was happily munching on a roast turkey leg.
Hunger had struck Skyler after a walk in the garden, and Leopold got him a turkey leg from the kitchen.
"Leopold, this turkey leg is so good... but I gotta tell you, Aurelia makes them even tastier."
Leopold's smile was charming. "My wife's got the magic touch. She’s a real domestic goddess."
Skyler blinked, looking puzzled. Wasn't Leopold's wife that clingy and annoying woman?
"Leopold, how many wives do you have?"
Leopold choked on his response. That was a topic best left untouched for the time.
"Skyler, don't you want a wife?"
Skyler pulled a face. "I'm just a kid. What use would I have for a wife?"
Leopold chuckled. "A wife could play with you and cook delicious meals."
