But it didn't matter. His men had already tracked down the host's trail deep in the Amazon rainforest, and soon, he'd be able to cultivate his antibiotics.
He slipped on his gloves, drew back his hand, and with a ferocious swing, slapped her across the face. The force of it made her see stars, her nose spouting blood like a broken faucet.
"You think you can still threaten me? No matter how you divide yourself, if you want to stay alive, you'll hand over those antibiotics in exchange for the antidote to Aurelia's poison."
His words were sharp, cutting to the core.
Megan's mouth twitched viciously, "As long as I'm alive, I will be Mrs. Stirling. If you want a divorce, I'll take Aurelia with me to the grave."
"You think I care? There are plenty of women in the world. If you both die, I'll just have Lana take the title of Mrs. Stirling."
Leopold's thin lips curled into a sinister, cold smile as he dropped the bombshell and turned to leave, the chill in the room lingering in his wake.
In the end, Megan agreed to trade two vials of antibiotics for one dose of the antidote.
No matter what, she had bought herself another three months of life. She believed her boss would surely come up with a better plan to detoxify her and keep Leopold at bay.
Aurelia had prepared a lavish dinner to thank Skyler for the medicine he had made for her.
"Skyler, can Geoffrey come up with the antidote?" she asked.
Skyler raised his eyebrows in pride, "Geoffrey's good, but what I know, he may not. This poison is an improved version I developed, with additional ingredients. Without the secret formula, he can't make the antidote."
"That's a relief."
Aurelia could now rest easy, trusting that even if Geoffrey was indeed another personality of Skyler's, their thoughts were not interconnected, so Geoffrey couldn't possibly know the formula locked in Skyler's mind.
"Skyler, with a genius like you by my side, I've got an ace up my sleeve for the future."
Skyler grinned. He loved hearing Aurelia's praise.
Back in Eastwood Heights, everyone treated him like a fool, a nobody. Even with all his degrees, nobody truly believed in him, and he was just seen as a nerd.
Now, Aurelia, William, and Leopold all treated him like a genius, like someone truly remarkable, and it made his heart soar.
