Christopher was nearing the end of his 24-hour detention in the interrogation room.
In Sentania, Christopher was the constant target of flattery, ingratiation, and fawning.
Upon his return, Christopher dominated the city’s nightlife with Pivotage. Subsequently, he seized control of the Iverson Group, becoming the chairman of hundreds of employees.
Bathed in power, wealth, and fame, Christopher became unaccustomed to detention or disrespect.
Every passing moment was an agonizing torment.
It was utter humiliation to Christopher.
“It’s nearly 24 hours. When can I leave?” Christopher sat on the cold and uncomfortable chair with his legs crossed in the interrogation room, his eyes grim behind his gold-rimmed glasses.
“What’s the rush, Mr. Iverson? We have time.” Ralph sat across from Christopher, holding firmly on his own. “Besides, it’s 15 minutes more to 24 hours. I can’t let you walk out a second less, not after I finally got you.”
Only God knew how fast Ralph’s heart was racing.
It would take ten minutes before the result of the urine sample was out. If Christopher’s result turned out clean, Ralph would have to let him go and bear the responsibility for a wrongful arrest. It would not be easy to catch Christopher the second time.
“I got it. You want to keep me here longer to catch up.” Christopher leaned back on his seat, his gaze piercing against his discolored face. He looked at the time. “We can chat. Let’s chat about your little set-up with Bella.”
Ralph’s heart sank. “Stop the groundless accusation, Christopher.”
