The Divorced Heiress’s Revenge (Anna and Justin) novel Chapter 2122

Late at night, at the police station, it was dimly lit in the office. Only the computer screen glowed with an eerie light, playing Christopher’s interview after he was released on bail.

Owen stared at the screen, his face haggard, the ashtray beside him already overflowing with cigarette butts.

His cold lips pursed into a thin line, and his fingers trembled as he dialed Christopher’s number.

However, the line could not be reached on the other end. He gripped his phone tightly, his heart sinking.

Owen slumped on the sofa and closed his eyes, feeling as if his heart was twisted by a blade. An overwhelming sense of despair engulfed him, tearing at him.

He had experienced countless bloody storms and even shouldered the weight of a few lives, but at this moment, he felt like he was facing the darkest moment in his life.

Owen suffered for another four days.

On this night, Owen received a call from his wife’s attending doctor at the hospital. “Mr. Hopkins, your wife had an episode tonight, and she’s in an unstable condition now. Please come to the hospital immediately!”

“Is she alright?!” Owen got up in a panic, grabbed his coat, and rushed out.

“Your wife is in the emergency room now. Let’s talk about the specifics when you arrive!”

After he ended the call, Owen’s hand, grabbing the doorknob, suddenly paused.

He had a gun, but he knew that if he fired it in a dangerous situation, it would bring huge trouble to him. The police might even trace it to uncover his secret dealings with Christopher.

The promising newbie in the team, Ralph, had already achieved remarkable feats and resembled Owen in his younger days. Given time, Ralph would undoubtedly find out the truth.

More importantly, Owen did not dare to, nor could he offend Christopher.

That man was a devil who devoured others whole and killed them without so much as blinking. Owen knew he was dancing with the devil from the start, and that he had a dark future.

However, he had no choice.

He must save his wife, the love of his life.

Therefore, Owen returned to his office desk, opened the drawer, took out a screwdriver, and tucked it behind his back before leaving in a hurry.

……

The black SUV flew toward the hospital but suddenly screeched to a halt as it entered an empty alley, the piercing sound of brakes slicing through the quiet night.

At the entrance of the alley, a black vehicle blocked his way, and four men stepped out of the car, all wearing black shirts and masks.

As a precaution, two men even laid a chain full of nails across the ground. If Owen dared to drive into them, his tires would burst immediately.

Owen’s eyes turned red, and he gritted his teeth as he shifted into reverse, flooring the gas pedal.

Bang!

A thunderous crash echoed through the sky.

The rear of his car crashed into the front of the car behind him. His way out had also been blocked.

This short alley had become a cage, and Owen was the trapped beast.

Owen knew he could not escape unscathed tonight. He left the car and faced the grim, predatory killers who surrounded him, his right hand reaching behind his back and gripping the screwdriver tightly.

“Deputy Chief Hopkins?” The man in the lead mocked.

“Are you hired by Chairman Iverson?” Veins bulged on Owen’s forehead. Although he was asking a question, it sounded like he was already certain.
