“We... We’re just hostesses from Pivotage. We don’t know anything... Please don’t kill us!” Even though the two men in front of them were incredibly handsome, the girls were still terrified to the point of tears.
Justin’s voice was stern as he questioned, “Why did Pivotage close down? Why are only the two of you left? Where is everyone else?”
“We don’t know either. This is a core secret, and we’re just hostesses. How could we possibly know?” One of the girls, slightly braver, stepped forward, shielding her friend behind her.
“Mr. Taylor dismissed all of us overnight…”
The girl behind her spoke timidly. “He gave each of us a severance payment and told us to leave. Pivotage is no more. We don’t know anything beyond that…”
Justin’s eyes narrowed sharply. Cold sweat immediately soaked his back.
Instead of saying they tipped him off, it made more sense that Christopher had already abandoned everything in Savrow and fled, planning to evade justice.
“What about Yvonne? Where is she?!” Drew shouted, his eyes bloodshot.
The two girls huddled closer together in fear. “We don’t know... We don’t know... Yvonne... She left yesterday.”
Drew’s voice broke. “Where did she go?!”
“We really don’t know where Yvonne went! But that night, I accidentally overheard... Mr. Taylor talking to his men. He said he proposed to Yvonne, and she agreed to marry him. Maybe... They’ve gone abroad to get married.”
Justin was stunned. “Get married?!”
In an instant, Drew felt his world turn upside down, his vision darkening. The blood coursing through his veins surged violently in his chest, alternating between hot and cold, crashing within him.
Tonight, Yvonne had bid him farewell, only to marry another man.
