Matthew hadn't realized this before. He finally understood why Max had been silent earlier. He reached out and gently patted the dog's head. Max whimpered as if it was feeling aggrieved.
Matthew raised his head and said to Ansel, "These siblings aren't safe for the time being. Let them stay here for a while and lay low."
Ansel nodded. "Don't worry. They'll be perfectly safe here."
Matthew nodded and placed Medieval Medicine on the table. "Here's the book."
Ansel, upon seeing Medieval Medicine, became somewhat excited. "You… you found the book? That's fantastic! Both the Medieval Aurreate Lineage and the book have been found."
He picked up the book, gently caressing it as if it were a rare treasure.
After flipping through a few pages, he placed it on the desk and said to Matthew, "The first task is complete. Now, onto the second task, which is to find another book, called 'Codex Chillwind' and Healer's Satchel"
Matthew was puzzled at the mention of Healer's Satchel. He knew that Codex Chillwind was medical literature written by Claude Bernard, a legendary physician. However, he had no idea what Healer's Sachet was.
Ansel explained, "Healer's Satchel was a pouch that the legendary physician carried around with him to store medicine. These are just some clues for you to investigate further." With that, he handed Matthew a letter.
Matthew opened the letter and read it. The more he read, the deeper his frown became. Finally, he folded the letter and put it back into the envelope. After offering a few words of advice to Jenny, he rose from his seat and left Opulent Club.
Outside the Opulent Club, Lucas approached him with an apologetic expression. "Mr. Grant, what happened today was entirely my fault. I misjudged the situation. I beg for your forgiveness."
Matthew had a cold expression on his face and glanced at Lucas indifferently before leaving without a word.
Upon seeing this, Lucas signaled to his sister. Layla shot him a glare before catching up to Matthew. She reached out and grabbed his arm, her voice sweet.
"I know my brother was wrong. I've already been scolding him, and he's realized his mistake. Please forgive him!"
Matthew felt the pressure of her full bosom against his arm, causing him to feel a strange sensation. He attempted to pull away, but the friction made it uncomfortable.
He relented, saying, "Forget about forgiveness. Anyone who messes with me gets what's coming. Consider this a lesson. Don't push your luck again."
