Tracy's eyes widened at the sight, and her jaw dropped wide enough for an egg to be stuffed inside her mouth. Her face was colored with disbelief. Matthew was… strong, and unbelievably so!
He approached Chad and looked at him as he kept coughing up blood. Matthew said coldly, "You can still live if you're treated in time. Do you want to stay alive?"
The desire to live filled Chad's eyes. "I- I don't wanna die. Please, call me an ambulance. I really don't want to die."
Matthew nodded. "Talk, then. What's going on here?"
Chad's expression twisted from the pain. He gnashed his teeth, trying to keep it at bay as he said, "I'm Sheldon's fellow disciple. He told me to do this.
"I think someone else has already taken ownership of these herbs. They'll be here to transfer them away soon."
The Smith family again? Matthew couldn't help feeling confused. Why was Sheldon—and Jeffrey, in the past—constantly standing in the Carter family's way? What was it about the Carters that made them act like this?
But he couldn't think of anything, no matter how he racked his brains. "At least you know when's the right time to talk. Get lost!"
Chad thanked him profusely. "Thank you for letting me off the hook. I swear that I won't have anything to do with whatever the Smith family is up to as long as I can stay alive."
After that, he pulled out his phone and called 911.
Matthew turned to approach Tracy. Though she'd been sent flying and had crash-landed on the ground, she was in an incredibly seductive pose.
She laid on her side like a mermaid resting atop a rock. It showed off her perfect ass. More importantly, she was biting her lip and frowning because of the pain she was in. It was unbelievably sexy and immediately aroused Matthew.
He asked, "Can you stand?"
She propped herself up and tried to stand but couldn't. "I don't think so. I can't really move."
Matthew scratched his head. As a doctor, he knew what exactly was wrong with her—her lumbar vertebrae were dislocated. In other words, she'd dislocated her hips.
