Matthew nodded. "I mean it. Austin took the money but didn't get the job done. So, he has to give it back."
Rachel felt disappointed. Even though Matthew was competent, he was too candid to understand the politics in the business world. She sighed and remarked, "Forget it. We aren't getting back the money."
Matthew confidently said, "Why can't we retrieve it? If you're too busy with work, I'll handle it. I promise we'll get it back."
Rachel was upset. 50 million dollars wasn't a small amount. If she could get it back, she'd have done it. Seeing how confident Matthew was, Rachel decided to let him learn the hard way.
"Alright then. Go for it."
…
In the villa, Austin was fuming with anger. "Sheldon, you bastard! Do you think you can belittle me just because you know some bigwigs? Just wait. I'll make you regret it."
Seeing how furious Austin was, Lance stayed quiet. Then, the doorbell started ringing.
Austin angrily shouted. "I'm not in the mood to see anyone today! I don't care who it is. Even if a big shot shows up, I'm not seeing him. Tell him to get lost!"
Lance sighed. After learning about what Austin went through at the Opulent Club, he understood how Austin felt.
Despite being a prominent figure in the medical field, Austin was actually kicked out. His dignity was trampled, and his reputation was ruined. With the illness added into the picture, Austin was already at his wit's end.
Lance made his way to the gate, feeling sorry for the visitor's unfortunate timing.
Upon reaching the gate, Lance spotted Matthew. It hit him suddenly that Matthew was with Rachel when she came to give them the money.
"Do you need something?"
