The Imposter Bride (Natalia and Magnus) novel Chapter 418

After a hearty meal, Magnus cradled Natalia's soft body in his arms. His lips curled into a contented smile as he drifted into slumber.

*

In England.

James awoke leisurely, still sprawled across the canopy bed fit for a princess. Sitting up, the memories of the previous night with Angela flooded back—good lord, what a night it had been.

He had lost all control with Angela, that girl with a tomboyish exterior and Herculean strength. Yet, in the throes of passion, she was enchanting, surrendering to his every whim. Such indulgence was foreign to him.

Angela breezed in with clothes for James, her smile as radiant as ever. "James, I picked these out for you. Do they fit? If not, I can get others."

James's thoughts were elsewhere; he had been away for days, unsure of Magnus' situation. He donned the clothes Angela brought and descended the stairs to find a feast laid out on the table.

"James, I hope these dishes suit your taste. I've hired a chef well-versed in your hometown's cuisine," Angela said as James began to eat without a word.

After the meal, he looked up at her. "Angela, I need to go to Hawaii to see Mr. Magnus. Please, don't stand in my way any longer, okay?"

Angela's face creased with worry. "I don’t want you to leave. Our wedding day is nearing, and you haven't met our daughter Vivian. I'll bring her to see you today."

James was taken aback by her piercing gray eyes. "Angela, a man's ambition knows no bounds. Keeping me caged will never make me love you!"

Despite her heartache, Angela nodded. "James, I’ll let you go, but you must return before the wedding. Can you promise that?"

James knew well that if he left, returning would be the last thing on his mind. He was about to speak when the villa door swung open, and a middle-aged woman entered, cradling a one-year-old girl in her arms.

His heart skipped a beat at the sight of the little girl. Her bright eyes were a mirror image of his own.

"Vivian!" Angela took the child. "Say hello to Daddy."

Vivian shyly peered at James and uttered, "Daddy..."

James’ world shattered at the sound—Was she his daughter?

Angela placed Vivian in his arms, and he held her gingerly. Vivian’s lightness was like that of a kitten, and her sweet scent instinctively drew him in.

"Look at her, James. She's the spitting image of you. I would gaze at Vivian's face whenever I missed you. I swore I'd find you because I love you."
