The Imposter Bride (Natalia and Magnus) novel Chapter 552

Natalia shouldered the blame, not wanting to see Magnus interrogated by Henry. But Magnus wasn't about to let Natalia face questioning. He spoke up, "Henry, this has nothing to do with Natalia. I ordered Alice to be locked up. Your sister has been acting like a spoiled queen bee, and it's high time she learned her lesson. Otherwise, she'll never realize where she's gone wrong!"

Henry's gaze turned icy as he stared at Magnus. "Yes, I'll admit Alice has been a constant headache, and I, as her brother, have had my fair share of trouble with her. But she's still my sister. She's already been through enough being cast out. That should be punishment enough. She won't make the same mistakes again. I don't want to see her come to any harm. Magnus, I apologize for what Alice has done to Natalia, but if anything happens to her, don't expect any brotherly compassion from me."

"Is that so? Let's see if you've got the guts to back that up," Magnus shot back with a glare as frosty as Henry's. "Princess or pauper, if you've done wrong, you pay the price!"

Watching the standoff between Henry and Magnus, Natalia was worried that they might come to blows. She tugged gently at Magnus' sleeve, "Let it go. It's been a while, and surely Alice has learned her lesson by now. Let's just let Henry take her home."

Magnus snorted, "Anyone who dares to hurt you deserves to be skinned alive! How could I just let it slide?"

"What do you want then? To chop her into pieces?" Henry glared menacingly at Magnus. "I've already apologized, and I'll make sure she's kept under strict watch from now on. She won't do anything rash again. So tell me where Alice is, and let me take her home."

Though Henry's words were polite, his anger was palpable. Despite his own frustrations with Alice's reckless behavior, she was still his sister, and he couldn't stand by and watch her suffer without doing anything.

"Really? Do you think a simple apology can wipe away all her past wrongs? Henry, you're a reasonable man. She almost killed Natalia! How about if I cut you twice and then said sorry? Would you accept that?" Magnus was unyielding, his own anger matching Henry's. "I don't care who you are. Anyone who tries to harm my wife won't be let off the hook!"

"Alright, Magnus, I've tried to be civil. Don't push me," Henry snapped, losing his cool. He hadn't expected Magnus to be so stubborn.

Magnus scoffed, "We don't need such a half-hearted apology. Just leave. This house isn't big enough for your ego. If you want to find Alice, look for her yourself!" The grudge had been set from the moment Magnus had to search tirelessly for his wife. The memory was etched into his heart.

Henry was driven to the edge by Magnus' words. He drew his gun and pressed it against Magnus' temple without a second thought. "Kid, don't get cocky. Say what you just said again. I dare you!"

Fearing for Magnus' safety, Natalia rushed forward to grab Henry's arm. "Stop this! I'll tell you where Alice is."

Henry's raging temper cooled a bit as he turned to Natalia, apologizing sincerely, "I'm sorry, Natalia, for all the trouble Alice has caused you. Rest assured, once I take her back, she'll be kept under close watch. She won't bother you again."
