The Indifferent Ex-Husband: Heartstrings in the Mall of Fate novel Chapter 171

When Brandon got back to the office, Kent, who had arrived earlier, was already worried and came up to meet him.

"Mr. Crawley and Mrs. Crawley are looking for you."

Kent said, glancing towards the conference room next to them.

Through the open door of the office, Brandon could see Daniel and Patricia inside.

Daniel looked pretty ticked off, probably over Patricia getting the boot.

Patricia was putting on her best smile, trying to smooth things over.

Brandon walked over.

As soon as Daniel saw Brandon, he couldn't hold back his anger. "Did you have your mom fired?"

"Yes," answered Brandon, calm and to the point.

His coolness only made Daniel even more enraged. "Who gave you the authority?"

"Employee Handbook, Chapter 3, Section 5 - three consecutive days of no-shows or five total days within a year, and the company has the right to let you go."

Brandon looked at Daniel, "And it's not just her, I'm pretty sure you've skipped out more than five times yourself."

Patricia quickly grabbed Daniel to calm him down.

She wasn't there to start a fight with Brandon today.

She still hoped to peacefully coexist with Brandon, who she had watched grow up, so she squeezed out a smile and said, "Brandon, are you upset because I talked to Sophia yesterday? I didn't mean to go to her, it just happened."

"It's got nothing to do with her."

Brandon cut her off, "But since you've brought it up, let's make things crystal clear. Whether or not Sophia and I are divorced, it doesn't mean she's open season for bullying and humiliation. If I find out any of you have gone behind my back to mess with her or give her the cold shoulder, I won't care about family ties, and you'll have no one to blame but yourselves for my ruthless response."

Brandon looked at Patricia and Daniel, "Anyone who crosses me, I've got plenty of ways to deal with them."

Daniel was fuming, speechless.
