The Indifferent Ex-Husband: Heartstrings in the Mall of Fate novel Chapter 309

"It's none of your business," Sophia said, then turned to Daniel, "Chairman Crawley, the first floor is the company's public showcase and lounge area, and it's always been open to the public. The company has a rule that non-employees can't use the elevator, but there's no specific rule saying non-employees can't enter the ground floor public area. There's no sign at the entrance forbidding outsiders, and the security guards didn't stop anyone saying they couldn't come in. If you're worried that outsiders coming in might give your company a bad rep, I suggest you put up a sign at the entrance making it clear that non-employees aren't allowed, and give the security guards a heads up in advance, instead of coming down on a barely two-year-old kid like a ton of bricks."

After speaking, she walked out, holding Theresa.

It took a moment for Daniel to snap out of it, and when he did, his face turned thunderous.

"So they barge in and they're in the right?" Daniel snapped, his face dark with anger, "Besides, how I set rules in my company is my call. Since when do I need a lecture from someone like you?"

Sophia paused for a moment, then turned back and said, "Indeed, I have no right to lecture you. But for someone who can say 'I decide how my company's rules are set,' I must say, your dad was quite the visionary for not handing the company to you."

Cindy stepped out of the elevator just in time to witness Sophia giving Daniel a piece of her mind. Her eyes widened in shock, but then she was even more surprised when she noticed the little girl Sophia was holding. She immediately remembered Sophia mentioning something about having a child through a sperm bank, and couldn't help but take a curious look at Theresa.

Theresa was carefully protected in Sophia's arms, shielded from the prying eyes.

Ignoring Daniel's increasingly livid expression, Sophia nodded politely and then left with Theresa in her arms.

Grace quickly picked up Theresa's bottle bag and followed without noticing the sheets of paper that Marian had carelessly placed on the soft chair, which were now slightly lifted by the breeze.

Cindy hurried after them too.

"Director." She caught up with Sophia outside the building.

Sophia turned around, a bit surprised to see Cindy, and then asked, "What are you doing down here?"

"I'm going to grab lunch with you," Cindy replied, a bit startled by the question, "I asked you in the office if you were going for lunch, so we could go together. You nodded and said 'yeah'."

Sophia felt a bit embarrassed: "Sorry, I wasn't paying attention."

Looking down and seeing Theresa curiously sizing up Cindy, she said, "Theresa, say hello."

With a sweet, milky voice, Theresa greeted Cindy, "Hello."
