The Indifferent Ex-Husband: Heartstrings in the Mall of Fate novel Chapter 402

Seeing their clueless reactions, Aaron couldn't contain his confusion. "You don't know? They have a two-year-old, smart as a whip and cute as a button, a perfect blend of her parents’ best qualities. Clearly, the good genes are from you two."

While talking, Aaron couldn't resist gushing over Theresa and mentioned how he accidentally encountered their family of three at the theme park, "A while back, my wife and I took our kid to the theme park and just happened to run into Brandon and Sophia with their little one. They were the picture of a sweet-looking family. Brandon and Sophia now, they seem so affectionate towards each other, like newlyweds. They even went bungee jumping together—truly more loving than ever..."

As he recounted the story, Aaron finally took note of the stern faces of Daniel and Patricia.

Both of them had unpleasant expressions on their faces, turning shades of pale and green.

With a sudden pause, Aaron looked at them perplexedly, “What’s wrong?”

He started to worry that he might have said too much. He reasoned that, as parents, learning about their son’s covert reconciliation without their knowledge would upset anyone.

What he hadn’t expected was that Daniel and Patricia were completely in the dark.

They both shot him a look, with their faces hardly looking worse, but both maintained a certain decorum ingrained deep within, especially when dealing with poorer relatives.

Patricia managed a tight smile at Aaron. "Is that so? Well, good for them."

Her insincere comment falsely lifted Aaron’s spirits, "Right? As their brother, I'm finally breathing easy. When they divorced so abruptly, you could imagine the worry it caused our parents and me. We tried to counsel them. In every marriage, there’s friction, right? But there is the old saying, 'A quarrel at the head of the bed ends at the foot.' They’re over it now. At first, I thought they were set on the divorce—blamed it on Sophia’s youthful folly. Thankfully they still had feelings for each other. It seems true love found its way in the end."

Patricia forced her lips into a semblance of a smile but didn't bite. The words were stuck in her throat, but she kept her cool—she restrained herself from any outburst.

Daniel, sick as he was, couldn't care about propriety at this moment. He felt a surge of anger rushing to his head, his face as dark as the bottom of a pot.

He couldn't bring himself to accept that Brandon had remarried Sophia and snapped, "Who told you they got back together? That's impossible. That child isn’t one of ours. Brandon's about to marry the Frost family's youngest daughter. They've been sweethearts since childhood, and both families have agreed on the wedding. How could they possibly remarry, let alone have a child? Stop spreading rumors."

Aaron looked shocked, "Brandon's marrying the Frost family's youngest daughter? Which Frost family? I haven't heard about this."

"What other Frost family could it be? The Frost Group," Daniel said, his patience wearing thin, "Brandon and Yolanda Frost have known each other since they were kids, and he's always favored her. It's just that Yolanda went missing for a few years, and Brandon couldn't find her. Then, in some drunken mistake with your sister, she got pregnant with our family’s child. With Brandon’s grandfather on his sickbed, longing to see his grandson married, they wed hastily. But she couldn't carry the baby to term, so a divorce was inevitable. Forget about affection or remarriage—that’s nonsense, and the child even more so."

"But I swear I heard the child calling Brandon 'Daddy,'" Aaron couldn't help but urgently clarify, "And they seemed really close when I saw them together. How could he be marrying someone else? That doesn't add up."

"That's something you'll have to ask your family," Daniel said, turning to Aaron, "How did your family raise its daughter? Barely of age and pregnant out of wedlock, and now, with Brandon set to marry, your family allows her to cling to him. Such news is shameful to hear."
