The Indifferent Ex-Husband: Heartstrings in the Mall of Fate novel Chapter 515

"Chairman Crawley said he's heading out on a business trip," Nell replied.

Brandon furrowed his brow even tighter, "What business trip?"

Daniel, just coming downstairs with clothes in hand, jumped into the conversation, "Just hitting the road to clear my head, take a little vacay. After a close call with the reaper, I’ve had an epiphany. Gotta make the most of the good days left and see the world while I still can."

As he spoke, Daniel passed the clothes to Nell, "Toss these in too."

Brandon shot him a glance. Daniel looked completely at ease as he turned to Brandon, "What brings you over?"

He hadn't forgotten his recent bout of the blues and couldn't help but look at him with concern, "Feeling any better these past few days?"

Brandon knew full well what he was worried about. Those days of drama had given him some peace lately.

He didn't respond, just let out a long sigh, and after a brief "I'm fine", he turned and slumped onto the couch, resting his neck against it and gazing at the ceiling, still looking pretty wiped out.

This fatigue made Daniel all the more worried and anxious, especially since Brandon wasn't one to hang around the house much. Seeing him crash on the couch like a sack of potatoes was definitely not the norm.

"Something happen?" Daniel asked, his tone slowing down, super careful not to ruffle any feathers.

"It's nothing," Brandon replied with the same lack of energy as before, and then looked back at him, "Did you go see my daughter the other day?"

"Me? Go see her? I wouldn't dare. Just bumped into her on the street." Daniel said, and couldn't resist a little rant, "Speaking of which, I need to give you a heads-up. That girl's part of our family after all. She ought to know where she comes from, or else who knows what she'll turn into, hanging around her mom all day."

Brandon gave him a cold look, "Know where she comes from? What's that even mean? I don't know what you said to her, but she's been bawling her eyes out, thinking her mom doesn't want her anymore."
