The Indifferent Ex-Husband: Heartstrings in the Mall of Fate novel Chapter 580

They found Sophia's location at a bend where the troubled river was about to merge into the main river.

Maybe it was just her lucky day; she was swept by the raging currents onto the riverbank, unconscious, with a gash on her head still oozing blood, and soaking wet all over.

Due to severe blood loss and the freezing snowy weather, by the time they found her, Sophia was hanging by a thread.

The situation was super urgent; they were clueless about Zion City, plus Sophia's accident spot was far from downtown, the roads were slick because of the rain, and there was no way she could hold out for an ambulance.

The only shot they had at saving Sophia was their cruise ship. The ship boasted a top-notch medical team, wasn't too far away, and most importantly, his mother Amanda was a doctor.

Although she wasn't a specialist in cardiovascular or neurosurgery, as a doc with loads of clinical experience, she immediately realized that Sophia was in grave danger. So, without a second thought, she whisked Sophia off to the car and bolted back to the ship's hospital for emergency treatment.

Their cruise had limited time to dock. They headed back to the ship and it set sail shortly after their return.

With the ship's medical team going all out, Sophia barely stepped back from death's door. But due to massive blood loss, brain contusions, hypothermia, and lack of oxygen, she remained comatose, only regaining consciousness briefly today when Brandon boarded the ship - the first sign of awareness she'd shown in days, and even then, it was just a flicker of subconsciousness.

Only just now did she truly wake up.

Harvey couldn't tell if it was because Sophia was a patient Amanda had personally snatched from the jaws of death, but she seemed to have a soft spot for her.

Before Sophia came to, Amanda would check on her a few times a day, often getting lost in thought while staring at her. It was more than just a doctor looking at a patient.

With over thirty years in medicine, she had seen all kinds of patients and saved countless lives. Logically, Sophia was just another patient, and Amanda shouldn't feel anything special.

The way Amanda spaced out while looking at Sophia, Harvey always felt like she was seeing someone else through her.

Who exactly, Harvey didn't know, and didn't much care to find out.

In recent years, he and Amanda had fallen out over certain people and issues. At the thought of the person who inadvertently caused the rift between him and Amanda, Harvey's expression suddenly turned cold, and he strode out of the hospital without pause.

His assistant Clark was waiting at the hospital entrance. Seeing Harvey come out, he respectfully greeted, "Mr. Ferber."
