Garrick couldn't bear the thought of all his hard work going down the drain! Only by rebooting the Polaris Star Project could he reclaim everything he had lost! These people had no clue just how precious a genius truly was! His hands trembling, Garrick pointed at Helen, shaking so badly he looked like he was about to be diagnosed with Parkinson's.
"Helen, picking a fight with me now is of no benefit to you!" he declared, his voice quivering with anger.
Helen just smirked, unfazed. "Benefit? The only benefit I'm looking for is the peace of mind that comes from not betraying old friends. That's all I need."
Helen had figured it out over the past few days. Instead of self-destructing, why not drive others insane? There was no sense in letting the youth charge into battle while they, the older generation, reaped the rewards from the background.
"Helen, you weren't exactly a saint in your younger days. What gives you the right to judge me now?" Garrick retorted with scorn.
Helen clapped her hands, and officers filed in one after another. "Well, then, feel free to call the cops on me. I dared to call them on you. Do you have the guts?"
Helen wasn't just after getting Garrick arrested. She wanted him to lose everything, his reputation in ruins! That was Garrick's biggest fear. Imagine the pain of realizing that everything you've fought for your whole life was for nothing. That was the ultimate heartbreak for Garrick.
Watching Garrick being led away, Noella breathed a sigh of relief. Palmer squeezed her hand gently, reassuring her, "He won't get out easily. Let him reflect on his mistakes behind bars."
Garrick's backers would surely do everything in their power to protect him! Noella chuckled lightly, turning to face the members of the Polaris Star team standing behind her.
"Don't worry. He wanted to create stars? Well, I'll show him that stars belong in the sky. From now on, Garrick and whatever's backing him, I've got them in my sights!"
Her voice was soft, but it resonated with a powerful conviction. Someone in the crowd rubbed their hands nervously and edged closer to Noella.
"Uh... Boss, are you hiring? I can do anything, even sweep the floors! Here's my resume!"
Seeing someone actually apply for a job on the spot sparked a flurry of activity.
"Me too! I'll do anything just to be part of Polaris Star Lab. I can serve coffee or whatever!"
Those who had previously demanded apologies from Noella and Loadstar now wore eager smiles. "Just say the word, and we'll ditch our current labs..."
Noella hadn't expected a scientific conference to turn into a job fair... Her gaze fell on her fellow researchers standing behind her. Seeing their hopeful faces, Noella said, "Sorry, but our lab only hires researchers under thirty... with hair."
The researchers looked devastated. "I'm not even thirty yet..."
But baldness? In the world of research, who wasn't balding?! To think, the closest they had come to their idol's lab was thwarted by a lack of hair... The disappointment was palpable.
Elara grabbed Noella's wrist, her face alight with excitement. "Noella... are you really my idol? Oh my god, this is the best day ever!"
The thought of her idol standing right before her filled Elara with a bubbling joy. "It's me, sis. Sorry I didn't tell you sooner."
Elara hugged Noella tightly, her voice choked with emotion. "Don't apologize. It's me who should've known better. I didn't understand your struggles."
"But you won't have to go through that alone anymore. Me and the brothers will always have your back!"
After the conference, the Schnabel family was still reeling from the revelations... What just happened?! The Schnabel siblings looked at Noella with mixed emotions, still in shock from the earlier revelations. Their youngest sister, the purest and kindest Noella, was supposed to be the family's darling. Yet she was the genius shaking the entire scientific community!
