The girl who dared to point a sniper rifle at his head on their first meeting was certainly not your typical damsel.
He raised an eyebrow. "Who said anything about being cute, innocent, and kind?"
Noella?
Xavier, having ruled the roost at Lockhart Prison and practically owned the borderlines for years, scoffed at such absurd flattery.
If Tristan saw Noella in action, taking someone out with a single shot, he'd probably wet his pants in fear!
The Schnabel brothers were in agreement.
Beckett adjusted his glasses and said, "Granduncle, the situation at Lockhart Prison is too perilous. Let me handle it."
Ulrich nodded in approval. "Yeah, Noella should stick to more gentle pursuits, like sewing or healing. Guns aren't for her!"
Stirling chimed in, "Granduncle, it's better if Beckett goes. Or Jasper, if it comes to that!"
Jasper rolled his eyes. "Stirling, why don't you volunteer yourself? But really, Noella isn't cut out for this. I'll take over."
Noella spoke calmly, "I have no intention of getting involved personally. Polaris Star will support Millie. From now on, Lockhart Prison will be under the Polaris Star's wing."
Xavier stroked his beard. He might be bald, but at least he had his beard!
"Lockhart Prison was always meant to be Polaris Star's stronghold. We just stepped back when we realized Garrick had ulterior motives!"
"Handing Lockhart Prison over to you is like returning it to its rightful owner."
Jasper was taken aback. "Putting Millie in charge? Is she up for it?"
Noella remained calm. "Millie won't hold back against the Gallagher family. Her temperament is better suited for the frontier."
Helping Millie with the Gallagher family's case, Jasper realized she had no plans to spare them.
After dealing with a business or a key family member, Millie would visit Randy's bedside. She'd softly recite contracts to him or show him the final moments of the family's loyalists, keeping the old man alive just by a thread.
"Jasper, Millie is a sharpshooter. You don't need to worry."
Jasper's face turned as red as a beet. "Worry? Why would I worry about her? She's just a tomboy, always acting like a loose cannon!"
"Millie's health isn't great. The frontier might actually be good for her recovery."
Being stuck in the stifling environment of the Gallagher family had taken its toll on Millie. The frontier would give her a chance to vent her frustrations freely.
Jasper seemed dazed. He knew Noella, the legendary Phantom Surgeon Lunaris, wouldn't lie about Millie's condition needing recuperation.
"How bad is it?"
Millie sauntered over, glass in hand, and leaned against Noella. "My master said to eat whatever I want and never deprive myself. So, how bad could it be?"
Jasper's eyes widened in shock. Millie's appetite had been poor, and Noella had advised her to indulge her cravings to aid her recovery. Clearly, Jasper misunderstood. His view of Millie shifted immediately.
Xavier glanced at Millie. "Come on, girl, show me your shooting skills!"
"Here? That's hardly appropriate!"
"There's nothing inappropriate about it! My granddaughter and grandson-in-law wouldn't mind!"
After all, they were no strangers to danger. Millie looked around, grabbed a chopstick from the table, aimed at a distant balloon, and threw it, hitting a blue one dead center.
"Not bad! With that aim and strength, your shooting must be top-notch!"
