The Man in Power After Being Married into Her Family novel Chapter 1957

Carmen never expected what Albert said would really happen.

She thought of asking for preferential treatment from Charlie, but instead of submitting to her request, Charlie instead reduced her daily meal budget from fifty to a measly thirty dollars.

She finally experienced the pain that Lady Wilson had been put through. 3

If she had known that this would be the consequence, why did she even bother making a fuss? 2

Looking at Carmen's face that was awash with agony, Albert mocked with a playful smirk.

"What did I just say? I told you Master Wade would surely decrease your meal budget, but you refused to believe me. So, are you beginning to now?" 2

Donning a gloomy expression, Carmen said nothing, nor did she dare say anything, because she knew that the more she spoke up, the worse the consequences would be. She might really end up eating bread and hotdog if she went on.

Albert smiled when he saw her being submissive and continued taunting. "Miss Wade, I hope you enjoy your seven days' worth of wonderful vacation here. If there's nothing else, I'll see myself out."

Carmen glared at Albert fiercely. The moment he left the room, she crouched down and burst into tears. 2

She immediately whipped out her phone and videocalled her father, Jeremiah, who was in Eastcliff now.

Once the call was connected, Carmen sobbed loudly." Father! That bastard Charlie has humiliated me! Look a t the kind of shithole he got me into!" 4

She switched the camera and showed Jeremiah the condition of her surroundings.
