When Hannah heard that Wendy was willing to be Charlie’s concubine, she felt anxious.
She blurted out, "Wendy, have you lost your mind? Why must you be that loser's concubine? He's no match for you!" 4
Wendy sighed, then said softly, "Mother, to be honest, Charlie isn't bad. He is handsome, responsible, and has a good personality. He's way better than Gerald." 3
"Ridiculous!” Hannah glared at her before blurting out, "That loser is no match for you in any way!" 1
Wendy smiled bitterly, "In these years, my situation cannot be any worse. I've fallen from being a phoenix t o becoming a chicken now." 6
Speaking of this, Wendy couldn’t help but sobbed, " Mother, look at me. My reputation is gone. No guys will bother to give me even a single glance..." 2
Seeing Wendy’s tears streamed down on her face, Hannah embraced her head into her arm and comforted her, "My lovely daughter, we shouldn't think this way. What is reputation? Isn't staying alive more important than anything else?" 1
Hannah then continued, "After all, you’ve been in a relationship with only a few men-namely Gerald, Kenneth, and Jeffrey. There are only three men in total. You're in your twenties and what’s the problem
with being in a relationship with three men? There are many undergraduate young ladies who are more experienced than you are, yet they aren't bothered about their reputations being tarnished. Why are you afraid?” 4
Wendy shook her head in tears, "Mother, this isn’t the same. In college, it is an enclosed society whereby no matter how many times one has dated or how promiscuous one has been, who else would care after graduation?”
"But, I’m different! When I was with Gerald, everyone i n Aurous Hill knew about it!”
"After that, I was with Kenneth. The entire city knew about it too!"
"Ever since then, my reputation has gone. Everyone knows that I was in a relationship with a man older than my own father and they despise me!"
"Later on, I was passed on to Jeffrey by Kenneth like one of his business products, which was also notoriously well-known in Aurous Hill..."
Hannah showed a painful expression and choked, "My lovely daughter, you’re innocent in these incidents. It’s all the fault of your dad, your grandma, and I! If not for us being so money-minded, you wouldn't have been forced to sell your body...” 1
