When Charlie heard this, he quivered, and he hurriedly pulled over and stopped the car at the side o f the road before blurting out, "Brother. Don't panic. Let me ask you, what is the overall level of the government?
"Not that great.” Hamed said, "However, the mercenaries that they hired this time are very powerful. It is Ten Thousand Armies which is ranked amongst the world’s top five mercenary organizations. It is said that Ten Thousand Armies had sent ten thousand soldiers over here to help the government.”
Charlie frowned and asked, "Ten Thousand Armies? What is its origin?”
"I'm not too sure either.” Hamed replied, "It is said to b e a mercenary organization founded in Oskia. They have been developing rapidly in recent years, and they possess great scale and strength! Their individual combat quality is much higher as compared to that of the government! They are all basically at the level of those troops in the special force in developed countries!”
Charlie said with surprise, "I have never heard of this organization before. I know of Blackwater Company in the United States and Cossacks in Russia. However,
this is the first time that I’m hearing of Ten Thousand Armies."
Hamed sighed and said, "You usually have very little opportunities to deal with mercenaries, so you probably do not have much understanding in regards t o this group of people. To put it bluntly, they are professional soldiers who are operating commercially, and they are paid to get things done. They are most active in places such as Syria where there are more wars going on. It is said that Ten Thousand Armies commands tens of thousands of people, and there are nearly a hundred top masters amongst them. They are very strong, and they even sent one of the Four War Kings under their command over to Syria..."
Charlie then said, "Don’t be nervous first. Even troops from the special forces will die after getting shot. Although your individual soldier’s quality is not as good as theirs, you are in command of the favorable geographical and social conditions. As long as you can make good use of it to your own advantage, you might not necessarily lose when there is a real fight.” 2
As he spoke, Charlie asked again, "How is the construction of your permanent fortifications and reverse slope fortifications?”
Hamed said, "I’ve been asking them to work overtime recently! However, the workload is really too much, and it is really difficult to fully implement the entire plan completely within such a short period of time..."
Charlie said calmly, "I understand. Just tell me whether the frontal defense of your permanent fortifications and the tunnels in the reverse slope fortifications can already be put to use now?" 2 "Yes." Hamed said, "The frontal permanent fortification at the entrance of the base has almost been completed. After all, this is the top priority of my entire defense. As for the tunnels in the reverse slope fortifications, I have already excavated all sides, but it has not been opened up inside, and there is no internal tunnel network extending in all directions yet. However, I've already acted according to your instructions, and I have already stored a large number of supplies inside. It would not be a problem even if w e had to hold out for a year or two."
"Okay!" Charlie then blurted out, "Then, let me ask you, do you know the exact firepower distribution of the other party consisting of the eight thousand troops?"
Hamed replied, "There are ten armored vehicles, more than thirty towed howitzers, and fifty to sixty trucks which should be carrying supplies and ammunition."
Charlie thought about it and asked again, "Do you know the specification and model of the towed howitzers?”
Hamed said, "The scout said that based on the visuals, it should be Russian-made 152mm towed howitzers."
Charlie's father, Curtis, was a standard military fan, and he used to have a whole room full of various models of weapons and equipment at home in the past. He also had countless books, magazines, and
materials on various weapons and equipment.
Charlie had a very deep understanding of various weapons and equipment because he had been imperceptibly influenced by his father when he was a child. 4
Therefore, he did not have to think before he said," There are many models of Russian-made 152mm towed howitzers, but I presume that the ones that can reach Syria should be those models produced in the 1970s and 1980s, or even older than that. So, its effective range should be around twenty kilometers.” s
