"Yu Yun, are you there? YOOHOO!!"
Ye Fan's cries reverberated throughout the island.
Ye Fan searched for a long time but was unable to locate Yu Yun.
"Where did she go? Did she go back?" Ye Fan wondered.
"Damn it! What an irresponsible woman! She promised to watch over me, so even if she wanted to leave, shouldn't she have waited for me to finish cultivating?" complained Ye Fan.
Ye Fan kept looking around but found no sign of her, so he stopped trying.
He went back to the cave to see if Yu Yun came back.
It was just wishful thinking on Ye Fan's part. The cave remained empty.
All that remained were the blood stains on the stone bench that resembled a flower.
"It seems Yu Yun has really left. This woman always leaves without telling me. Fine. Just go. We were barely friends, so it wouldn't make a difference even if she left without saying goodbye." Ye Fan shook his head and laughed.
He stopped looking for her.
Some people were destined to be merely passersby in each other's life.
He didn't know when he would see Yu Yun again, but Ye Fan wanted to thank her.
She had given him the fire spirit fruit and watched over him in the cave while he cultivated, so Ye Fan had to thank her personally.
However, the woman was long gone.
Ye Fan's wish was destined to be a regret for the rest of his life.
But that was life, wasn't it?
It was all about one regret after another.
All these regrets were what made up an exciting life.
Ye Fan finally stopped thinking about it.
He turned to look at the cave behind him and the place where they ate grilled fish. He seemed to recall every moment he spent with Yu Yun here and couldn't help laughing.
"Although she always looks cold, she is actually very cute."
Ye Fan composed himself and stood up to head towards the next unknown 'regret' in his life.
But before he could leave the island, he suddenly stopped in his footsteps.
He stood in front of the lake.
There was a light breeze, and the lake was rippling gently.
The bright sunlight left the lake glimmering like precious stones.
There was luxuriant foliage behind it.
The cold wind left the trees rustling.
The atmosphere was serene.
Only a young man stood with his hands behind him.
A solitary figure was reflected in the cold water.
Ye Fan stood by the lake for a long time.
His striking face became solemn.
His dark eyes looked into the distance.
Finally, Ye Fan's voice broke the silence first.
"My friend, why don't you show yourself since you are here?"
His deep voice swept in all directions like a gentle breeze and echoed throughout the forest and lake.
But after a second had passed...
Two seconds...
Ten seconds passed, but everything remained quiet.
No one appeared.
