The Return Of His Unrivaled Ex-Wife (Joanna) novel Chapter 1067

Chapter 1067

Joanna instinctively declined when she heard it. “No need. You are so busy with work right now, so you should focus on your job.”

Even though Bruce was not around at the moment, she still did not want to get too close to Jaydon.

In her heart, she considered Jaydon purely as a friend, but she knew that Jaydon always had feelings for her.

She did not want to give him any wrong signals or cross the boundaries of friendship. It was best for their relationship to retreat to the position of friends.

Seeing Joanna’s resistance, Jaydon did not push further and just smiled warmly. “Well, we’ll see then. Have a safe trip.”

“Okay, bye.”

“Goodbye, Mr. Grimm.”

“Goodbye, Lilia. Keep up with your rehabilitation training, okay?”

“Sure, Mr. Grimm.”

Joanna did not say much more and turned to walk toward the boarding gate with Lilia and Devin. Behind her, six bodyguards and four assistants followed.

Watching Joanna’s figure disappear into the distance, a deep emotion flickered in Jaydon’s eyes. “Joann, I hope… I hope my guess is wrong.

“Bruce, you have to come back. Don’t let Joann and the children down.”

Now, he suddenly began to worry about Bruce too. Besides Bruce, he was even more concerned about his sister.

Therefore, he decided to make a trip to Melta in person.

Ring, ring, ring.

Jaydon’s phone rang again, and he knew without looking that it must be from Carmel.

“Hello…”

On the other end of the line, Carmel’s voice came through, sounding coquettish and overly sweet. “Jay, where have you been?”

Jaydon furrowed his brows slightly, feeling a bit impatient. “I have something to take care of in Melta. I won’t be in Venturas for a while.”

He was going to Melta for another reason as well.

That was to distance himself from Carmel. He really did not want to be around her anymore. She was too clingy, using every trick to hook on to him and plcase him, but he really could not take it anymore. It was suffocating.

Carmel heard the news and became even more excited, she shouted, “What? You’re going to Melta? Why so sudden? Why didn’t you tell me in advance?”

Jaydon pursed his lips slightly before replying in a deep voice, “Well, there’s something urgent at the last minute. I need to go over at once to have it settled.”

“Heh, when are you coming back? I’ll go with you.” Carmel refused to give up.

“No need. You stay at home and take good care of our daughter. I’ll probably be back in a week.”

“But, I don’t want to be away from you. I want to go with you…” Carmel continued to act cute, which seemed quite inappropriate at the moment,

“Just leave it at that! I’m boarding the plane now.” Jaydon did not wait for her to finish and hung up the phone.

He had to go to Melta in person.

First, he was truly worried about Grace and wanted to bring her back safely.

Second, he wanted to verify his own judgments and guesses.

There was definitely something wrong with Bruce’s identity. He was not just a normal businessman. Now, he had to confirm it.

“Mr. Gaven. It’s about time, let’s board the plane.”

“Sure.”

Jaydon put on his sunglasses, accompanied by bodyguards and assistants, and boarded the plane to

Melta.

On the plane, Joanna felt a little drowsy but could not fall asleep, so she stared out of the window with a tired look.

“Mommy…” Lilia pouted her little mouth, seeming to want to talk about something.

“What’s wrong, my darling?”

“Well, I want to talk to you about something on my mind.”

Joanna could not help but laugh when she heard that.

Though her little girl was young, she had countless tricks up her sleeve.

“What do you want to talk about then?” Joanna asked with a smile.

Lilia hesitated a bit and said shyly, “Mommy, will you and Mr. Grimm… um, always be good friends?” Joanna looked puzzled, not understanding why she was asking. “Why do you ask? Mommy and Mr. Grimm are definitely good friends.”

“Just good friends?” Lilia asked carefully.
