Alejandro from the Cabello family spoke his mind in anger.
"I hope you'll be able to offer us a decent explanation, Master Hunt!" persisted Nash.
Fane was appeased when he saw how the people from the Hunt family had instigated everybody there.
Guessing that Quentin would have been pissed and angry because both his sons had died, Fane believed he would have also questioned what happened during the tournament and would search for the killer. Even if he could not kill the person at this moment, Quentin would not simply let it go.
However, Fane's prompt action of questioning him before he could do anything had forced Quentin into a state of passivity.
"Explanation, my foot!" growled Quentin instantaneously as he slapped his thigh." We've never had such thoughts. If that's the case, why are so many members from our families dead? If you aren’t prepared and our three families have united, more of your people should be dead compared to ours, as all of you were isolated in the beginning!”
Trenton turned his hate-filled glare toward Fane and scoffed, "Don't make up such slanderous charges, Fane. I'll let you know that you’re going to face retribution for saying such things!"
"Retribution?" Fane smiled coldly and added, "There are so many people from different families and so many contestants. They know very well about the situation they have faced. If I'm making things up, it's impossible that everyone is implying the same thing, no?"
Helena immediately stood forward and angrily rebuked, "Master Lagorio, are you with a guilty conscience? Let me tell you: Many members from our family had faced the murderous hunt from the geniuses of your families! Your people even killed those who handed their tokens willingly and surrendered!"
"That’s true! The members of our West family had also met with many of such situations. I was lucky to be alive because I managed to escape, and that’s even a struggle!" a young man from the West family chimed in as he stood forward.
"That’s right. Our people also faced the same thing!" “Yes, this is too much!" The geniuses from the other families came forward and expressed their utter fury. It was natural that they were unhappy as they felt that they had been schemed against by others who had a headstart in a competition.
Those third or second-class reclusive families were especially furious.
"Master Lagorio, what else needs to be said? It looks like my son isn't the one making slanderous charges, right?" Nash smiled coldly as he looked at the other party. Although the Hunt family was strong, all other families—apart from the Church and Lagorio families-were on their side. This made him more confident when he spoke. After all, these three families could not go against so many families, could they? If everybody cooperated, these three families would be no match for them collectively.
"How would I have known about this? Anyway, our families never had such discussions before the competition in secret!" Trenton immediately replied without much confidence, flustered and guilty. "Anyway, I don't know about this. What is this actually about? Apart from that, why would so many of our people die if that was the case? This doesn’t make sense!”
