Calruz and Toren were so astounded that they did not know how to react. A powerful warrior wanted to work with them. It was not just a simple order either; Fane would give them a reward. Even though it was only five golden keys, it was a decent reward.
Calruz coughed, carefully turning to look at Toren, unable to decide. Toren did not even dare to frown, worried that Fane would be unhappy. He merely lowered his head slightly, thinking through everything Fane had said.
Toren wanted to leave immediately. It was just too dangerous there. It was no longer somewhere they could stay behind. Even though Fane said he would guarantee their safety, he did not completely trust him.
Even though Fane was incredibly strong, Fane could not gain Toren's complete trust. After all, it involved his own life. They were not at Cloud City but at Chaos City instead, where death was everywhere. They were at the most dangerous place in the whole Chaos City.
Nonetheless, he was worried that the man in front of him would kill the two of them if he did not agree. Toren's heart was conflicted as he started to breathe heavily.
Right at that moment, Calruz spoke, "Alright, I'll work with you, but you have to guarantee our safety! My fellow disciple won't be able to help you since he can't even stand up right now."
Toren looked right at Calruz. If Fane was not right there, he would have slapped Calruz viciously—and a few times, for good measure. Calruz was so greedy for any profits or benefits. Even if they wanted to work with Fane, they should listen to what it entailed!
He did not even bother asking that before he agreed, which was foolish. Toren was so angry that his lips trembled.
Calruz looked at Toren and said casually, "Why are you so angry? This is the only choice we have anyway. Are you not going to agree? If you take too long, this warrior might get angry. Do you want to die?"
Toren clenched his fists, too angry to say anything. If Calruz was not his senior, he would have attacked Calruz at that moment. However, since Calruz had already agreed, it was too late for Toren to say anything else.
He was forced to accept it. At that moment, he really did have no other choice.
Toren took a deep breath and put a smile on his face. "What do you want us to do?"
Fane pointed at the intense battle. "The two of you, lure the beasts here. You don't have to fight with them, of course. After that, you can hide behind me and leave the rest to me."
Toren gulped, breaking out in cold sweat again. The two of them needed to lure beasts? That was not something easy. It was equal to putting themselves in the thick of battle!
Before he could say anything, Calruz spoke first, "Are we supposed to rush inside to attack the beast? We won't be able to do that. The moment we step into the battle, we'd be surrounded by enemies. We won't just be attacked by the beasts, and the warriors from second-grade worlds are no slouches either!"
