That was the most reliable plan. Fane could not trust Lourain at all. He saw through Lourain's personality, and he would surely spill everything to the world when given the chance, which would no doubt garner much attention.
Fane was not afraid, but he did not want too much trouble either. It was better to keep him around.
Marth's eyes widened as he said in a hoarse voice, "Fane! If one person is following you, you might as well have two. Why don't I stay with you as well? After all, Violet City is a level-two city. If I'm not careful, I might run into danger. Staying by your side will make things a lot safer. Don't worry, I won't trouble you!"
Fane raised an eyebrow as he looked at Marth meaningfully. After thinking about it, Fane nodded. After all, they were not in Chaos City. They needed to follow the rules for all the challenges. As long as the two of them did not participate, they would not be able to drag him down. Since that was the case, Marth could follow them if he wanted to.
Lourain sighed helplessly, not daring to say anything else. After all, this was basically a chance for him. If he insisted on going against that, Fane might decide to kill him. He needed to act more obediently so they would let down their guard around him.
Once the Vibrant Hall was opened, he would be free.
The three of them reached an agreement, and started to discuss where they needed to go next. Fane frowned before he took out a badge from Mustard Seed.
The badge was made of gold, free from writings, patterns, or carvings. If one ignored the material, then it was just a piece of metal the size of a palm. That had been Fane's reward for completing the golden difficulty.
The rewards were not just the badge but three expensive things as well. There was a pill and two different materials, the Three Springs Pill, the Poisonous Heart Fruit, and the Dragonscale Grass. All of them were worth no less than 40 million.
The higher the level of the city, the more valuable the rewards. Before entering the Whirling World, Fane had set a goal to earn at least 900 million spirit crystals. At the time, he thought that it was a distant amount, that he would need a long time to reach that goal.
However, it had not even been a year, and Fane was rapidly reaching his goal. If he sold everything he could and added up everything he had, he should have at least 500 or 600 million. Fane had not gone into detail with the calculations, but that was definitely the minimum.
Just thinking about that made Fane smile. He still had a year left until the Whirling World closed. As long as he worked hard, it would not be a problem for him to accumulate 900 million spirit crystals. Then, he would be able to get ninth-grade crystals and aim for Wild Gorge Pass.
Fane touched the badge in his hand. The other materials were not cheap, but Fane was sure that the most valuable thing was the badge in his hand. However, that old voice did not appear again after he got his reward, so he was never told what the badge was for.
Fane carefully looked at the badge. It looked ordinary like it was just a common piece of metal. Nothing else seemed special about it at all.
Marth looked at the badge in Fane's hand as well. After a moment, he scratched his nose and coughed lightly, saying carefully, "This badge must have a special function, but we'll probably need to wait for the right time to use it. Fane, why don't we decide on where we need to go first?"
If Fane continued to try to look at the gold badge, he would probably not be able to find out for a long time. Marth looked at the warriors that were anxiously walking around, and he felt a mixture of excitement and nervousness as well.
