Lourain turned to look at Marth with a complicated expression on his face. There were various emotions in his eyes; a lot of hatred and anger but hesitation as well. He took a deep breath before he mustered the courage to look at Fane.
"Fane, forgive me for what I've done. I said many harsh things to you before this purely out of ignorance. I thought you were someone who only knew how to brag. I was blind. Please forgive me and spare my life."
They were in an area that restricted fighting, so Fane could not attack him there. However, with Fane's skills, it would be very easy for him to do something to him. No matter how prideful he was, Lourain did not dare to offend Fane. He prayed that Fane would show him some mercy.
Fane looked at Lourain. "So are you planning on moving alone?"
Lourain nodded. He did not dare to keep following Fane. If Fane got unhappy with him, he would be eliminated with just a wave while he could not fight back at all.
To Lourain, Fane was like a ticking time bomb. Lourain would only feel at ease if he left Fane.
Yet, Fane laughed and said coldly, "If I let you go, and you turned on me and spread information about me, won't I be at a disadvantage?"
The moment he heard that, Lourain started to break out in cold sweat. While he was controlled by the fire killing array, he had not watched his mouth at all. His head was filled with thoughts of just blowing everything up, so he said whatever came to mind. He thought that the matter would be forgotten once the killing array was over, but Fane…remembered what he said and brought it up as well.
Lourain took a deep breath, feeling a chill in his body. "I just couldn't control myself at the time, and I said things without thinking about it. Please don't take it seriously. No matter how brave I am, I wouldn't dare to spread information about you.
"The moment I do that, you'd know it's me, no questions asked. Then, I would've offended you. Would I still be able to survive in the Whirling World? Also, if it weren't for you and your skill, I would never have been able to enter the city.
"If I did that, I'd be the most ungrateful person ever. No matter how hot-tempered and ill-mannered I am, I wouldn't do something so despicable."
When he said all of that, Lourain was prepared to swear it to Fane.
Marth had a sneer on his face as he listened. He did not believe Lourain at all. As long as someone offered a high price for Fane's information, Lourain would be the first to offer it.
Even though Fane's skills were incredible, he would not be able to find him as long as he hid well enough. Lourain was spouting empty promises.
Fane laughed as he looked at Lourain coldly. "Honestly, I don't care if you spread information about me. If someone wants to find me, be my guest. I'll deal with as many as there are. However, before the Vibrant Hall is opened, I don't want too much trouble.
"I don't believe what you're saying at all, so you should just follow me for the time being. Once the Vibrant Hall is opened, I'll let you go free. You can go wherever you want after that."
