The substitute bride is a mute novel Chapter 31

Judy kept her many thoughts to herself as she remained silent.

The meal was like sitting on pins and needles until it was finally over. Clark had to go to a meeting at the company in the afternoon, so he didn't stay long. He took Judy with him when he left.

Matthew and Jenna came out to see them off.

"Clark, come to my house more often," Jenna coquettishly said as she clung to Clark. Her voice was so coy that Judy got goosebumps.

"It's getting late, we have to go. Mr. Reid, you need to go home and change." Sebastian coughed subtly, reminding them of the time.

"Yeah." Clark nodded slightly and glanced at Judy beside him. "Get in the car."

Only then did Judy snap back to her senses. She hurriedly nodded, following suit.

Clark frowned, looking impatient. To him, Judy was like a zombie. She was listless with unfocused eyes. Now, she was staring blankly without any reaction while he talked to Jenna.

When Judy passed by Jenna on the way to the car, Jenna deliberately lowered her voice just enough for Judy to hear.

"Don't take it seriously that Clark came back to visit with you. He's here to see me. Did you notice how much Clark cares about me?

"I'm afraid you haven't received any gifts from Clark yet. You're no different from a maid to him."

Judy felt embarrassed, but she still forced herself to put on an indifferent expression. She gestured. "Then, why are you still so eager to become a maid?"

She had a good temper, but she was not a pushover.

After leaving these words, she turned and got into the car.

As the car slowly drove away, Jenna stomped her feet, acting coquettishly. "Dad, look at her acting all high and mighty now. If she continues to stay in the Reid family, she will walk all over us!"

Matthew frowned. "Enough, stop making a fuss. Did you tell Clark what I told you to say?"
