The substitute bride is a mute novel Chapter 35

"How did you end up marrying Clark instead?" Judy fell silent. The truth was complicated. It couldn't be explained in a few sentences.

She couldn't reveal to Dominic that it was because Jenna found Clark ugly and wanted to pass him off. Judy wasn't the type to talk bad behind someone's back.

Seeing her silence, Dominic felt a pang of regret. "Sorry, I shouldn't have asked."

"It's okay." Judy shook her head. "I'll tell you slowly when I have a chance."

"Alright." Dominic smiled. "If you ever feel wronged at home, or if Clark treats you poorly, you can talk to me. I'll talk to him for you."

"No need." Judy quickly waved her hand, rejecting Dominic's offer.

If Dominic spoke to Clark on her behalf, she couldn't imagine how Clark would do. It might make things even worse.

Dominic suddenly felt helpless. The girl next to him, though unable to speak and seemingly frail, possessed a hidden strength. Her gentle gaze carried a sense of strength that made it hard to look away.

Wasn't a girl like her more worthy of love than Jenna? Dominic couldn't understand what Clark was thinking.

Soon, they arrived at the hospital, where Dominic had to go to the outpatient clinic for his shift, so Judy went straight to Lilly's ward.

During the preoperative recovery period, Lilly's complexion had improved. When Judy arrived, Lilly was chatting with the patient in the next bed.

Seeing Judy, Lilly smiled. "Speaking of the devil, I knew you would come to visit me."

Judy gently smiled and held Lilly's rough hand. "How are you? Are you okay?"
