The substitute bride is a mute novel Chapter 45

Jenna's expression dulled as she saw Dominic holding Judy's hand. "Mr. Phelps, what are you guys doing?

Judy realized and quickly withdrew her hand. Her brows puckered slightly in panic.

Dominic glanced at Jenna and said coldly, "We're about to have lunch. What do you want?"

"The two of you?" Jenna's eyes burned with anger. She continued, "Isn't it a little inappropriate for the two of you to have lunch together?"

Judy was about to deny it, but Dominic said, "There are so many people eating together in the hospital canteen. What's inappropriate about us eating together? Looks like your family has weird rules, Ms. Blake."

"No, that's not what I meant. I mean… never mind," Jenna gave up on explaining. "Mr. Phelps, I'm here to ask you something. For this case—"

"I'm on lunch break right now." Dominic interrupted. He sounded polite yet distant. "We can talk after I have my meal. Let's go, Judy."

Judy had rarely seen Jenna this deflated. And she certainly had never seen the usually kind Dominic treat Jenna this coldly.

Judy was stunned by Dominic's attitude. And before she came to her senses, Dominic had dragged her away for a distance.

"Wait." Judy tugged Dominic's sleeve and signed.

"What's wrong?" Dominic stopped and asked.

"Dr. Phelps, you go ahead and have lunch yourself. I'm not hungry." Although it was satisfying to see Jenna deflated, she still declined the offer to have lunch with Dominic.

Dominic's forehead creased in confusion. He asked patiently, "Are you avoiding me? Is there any trouble I can help you?"

Judy shook her head and smiled. "I have to be with Grandma." Judy turned around and returned to the ward.

As she turned away from Dominic, her smile immediately vanished. With her current situation, she shouldn't anger Sally any further.
