"What did you just say, Austin? You're a level-four pill refiner?"
Michelle asked as doubt and hope both glinted in her eyes.
For her, level-four pill refiners were respectable and honorable elders.
However, the lad in front of her was not even twenty years old yet. It was hard for her to believe that he was already a level-four pill refiner.
But Austin had always been surprising others with his skills, and it was not new to Michelle. So she inferred that Austin was probably a pill refiner.
Austin smiled faintly and said, "Hurry up. Prepare the prescription and ingredients of the Sunset Elixir and bring them to my room.
I'll try and see if I can make some for you.''
He then turned and headed back to his room. 'According to Michelle, her mother is badly ill. The sooner I refine the Sunset Elixir, the more her mother is likely to recover, ' he thought.
"Austin, are you really a level-four pill refiner?" Michelle couldn't still help but ask Austin as his skill was not believable for a teenager. "Forgive me for asking. I just really can't believe it. All right. I'll do as you say."
Michelle was basking in astonishment and mirth. Just a few minutes ago, she was desperate, and now Austin's words rekindled the hope inside her. She was so thrilled that she couldn't help trembling slightly.
"I'll prepare the ingredients. See you later," she shouted excitedly, staring at Austin's back.
The moment Austin entered his room, Michelle turned around and sprinted to get the prescription and ingredients for the Sunset Elixir.
A few minutes later, Michelle emerged into Austin's room with all the things he needed.
"Miss Meng, I will let you know once I have made the elixir,"
Austin remarked as Michelle still stood before him. He was obviously dismissing her presence in his room.
Aware that pill refiners preferred to refine elixirs alone, the girl understood his remark.
She then took her leave and waited outside his room.
As he was left alone, Austin took out the purple herbal pot and placed it on the table.
He then started to read the prescription of the Sunset Elixir. It was until he knew and fully understood the method of making the elixir that he started to refine it.
Having successfully made over twenty fourth-grade Primordial Elixirs, Austin was adept in refining fourth-grade pills.
The steps of refining elixirs included burning it, extracting the liquid, mixing the essence of different elixirs, condensing the mixture, and getting it from the pot.
Austin placed the ingredients into the herbal pot one by one. Then, he activated the Scorching Evil Fire, and as the flame penetrated the herbal pot, he began the refinement.
An hour later, as he was immersed in the process of refining, he patted the vent on the cover of the herbal pot. A black pill materialized, and its sweet smell drifted away into the air.
Austin placed the black elixir over his palm and looked at it closely. After observing for a while, he found that the one he had refined had the standard quality.
According to Angus, in terms of its quality, an elixir could be divided into five levels: poor, standard, good, excellent, and top.
It was said that some elixirs which were even better than those of top quality also, most probably, exist. However, no one had ever discovered them yet. Even Angus, a master in refining elixirs, had only seen few top-grade elixirs in his lifetime.
It was inevitable to have some unqualified elixirs after a refinement. But the first Sunset Elixir he had refined was a standard one, which made Austin a bit excited.
Austin knew that Angus took the credit when he made such significant progress in a short time. The elder not only helped him get the Scorching Evil Fire but also shared his insights and methods of refining elixirs with him. Unearthly Fire and excellent masters meant a lot to pill refiners' development, but not all of them were blessed with them. Lucky for Austin, he had gotten both.
It was also the reason why Austin had progressed way faster than other pill refiners. Whenever he refined third-grade and fourth-grade pills, the success rate was quite high.
The ingredients Michelle had given him were enough for him to refine ten Sunset Elixirs.
Commonly, pill refiners would always prepare extra ingredients since they could not guarantee that their refinement would be a total success.
Austin proceeded with his work. He had successfully refined nine pills. His success rate in refining the Sunset Elixir was relatively high––about 90 percent.
Among the pills, two had poor quality, four were standard pills, one was of good quality, and one was an excellent elixir.
Austin was quite pleased with the result considering that it hadn't been long since he started learning how to refine elixirs. He had done a great job becoming a level-four pill refiner and attaining a high success rate in the refinement process.
He put aside the herbal pot, rose from his seat, and stretched himself. Spending the whole day refining elixirs had really exhausted him.
Austin grabbed the nine Sunset Elixirs with his hand and stormed out of the room.
"How did it go, Austin?" Michelle inquired nervously as she dashed towards him.
She had been waiting outside since she left Austin's room.
"I'm glad that I didn't fail you,"
Austin answered with a grin on his face, handing one elixir to Michelle.
"So this is the Sunset Elixir? This is the thing that could cure my mother?"
Michelle cupped the elixir in her hand with her eyes totally fixated on it. She slightly shivered even though she was thrilled to finally have the elixir.
"Thank God. Now, mother might get better!"
Tears rushed out from her eyes.
