She was just about to scream when a creepy voice cut through, "Go ahead. Might as well call down your mom and dad for a show."
In her moment of hesitation, her lips were sealed.
The familiar taste and touch sent shivers down her spine.
Jocelyn fought back, punching and pinching, but their difference in strength was too great. It was like scratching an itch through a boot without any effect.
That wild and oppressive kiss soon exhausted Jocelyn, her strength to struggle fading fast. She might be suffocated and her whole body went limp in his arms.
Finally, the man let her go.
She took deep breaths, with her mind slowly coming into sanity. Jocelyn clung tightly to the front of his shirt, afraid she'd collapse if she let go.
"You..." Jocelyn knew who it was without taking a look. Eyes red, breath heavy, she glared at that gloomy face, "You bastard..."
Melvin cupped her face in his hands, with no trace of gentleness. His thumbs pressed under her eyelids. In the flickering light, his face looked even more menacing.
Jocelyn stared back in terror, her chest heaving with fear and the struggle to breathe. Swallowing nervously, she had no clue what he was planning to do next.
"Still making excuses? You cheated on me!"
Jocelyn shivered uncontrollably when confronted with Melvin's restrained anger.
She had never seen him so fierce before, as if she might die by his hand in the next second.
When the light came on, she saw his eyes were red.
Trembling her lips, she managed a hoarse answer, "I didn't."
"Am I blind?" Melvin squinted, "Picking him up, going home, meeting the parents, hitting a hotel. Jocelyn, you're quite the catch. Got your hooks in him already, waiting for an excuse to dump me, right?"
Melvin's grip contorted Jocelyn's face.
She swallowed hard, her fear magnifying.
"I didn't," she said with a rough voice.
"Heh." Melvin laughed.
Such a sneer was more terrifying than his dark face, which clenched Jocelyn's heart.
Finally, he let go of her, his gaze piercing, "So, after meeting the parents, what's next? Getting married or hopping into bed first?"
Jocelyn caught her breath, fighting for composure and gripping her hands tight. Looking back into his eyes, she hardened her gaze.
"Whether it's getting married or sleeping together, it's none of your business." Jocelyn had always known he wasn't someone to mess with. He had a temper and could do anything if provoked. How else could he have turned a jewelry brand into a top-tier name in just three short years?
She had no doubts about his ruthlessness in business and possibly towards her as well.
Melvin narrowed his eyes dangerously, his hands propping near and getting closer to her, "None of my business? I won’t let you make it?"
Her heart raced with fear.
"Yes, I can't bear to lay a hand on you, but what about him?" Melvin arched an eyebrow, a chilling look emerging in his eyes.
Jocelyn panicked, "Don't do anything crazy!"
"What, feeling sorry for him?" Facing her nervousness, Melvin grew his fury and gently pinched her chin, lifting it slightly, "A university professor, huh? Well-educated man. What do such people fear most? I should think about that."
Jocelyn, frightened, grabbed his hand, "What the hell do you want?"
"Can he steal my woman without consequences?" Melvin removed her hand, his once affectionate eyes now filled with malice, "Mine is mine. Unless I give it up, nobody can take what I want."
For the first time, Jocelyn felt the full extent of Melvin's ruthlessness. She didn't doubt for a second he was serious.
As he turned to leave, she rushed over and hugged his waist, blurting out desperately, "Nothing happened between him and me. He just helped me escape from the blind date my parents set up."
