True Fated Marriage novel Chapter 1142

Maria acted as if she was a judge who was interrogating Yvonne, looking very serious, that it made Yvonne unsure of whether she should laugh or cry.

She was pretty cooperative and answered immediately, "Nothing. I simply went to the United States for about a year."

"Hmph, your answer is so vague. What did you do over there?" Maria puffed up her cheeks and seemed unhappy with her answer.

Yvonne looked up at the child in a seemingly obscure way, but she quickly hid it and smiled in response. "I was working in the United States."

"You abandoned me just for work?" Maria was instantly enraged. "Are you for real? Must you abandon your young child for something like that? Was there nowhere else that you could work at? And you dare to identify yourself as my Mom?"

Yvonne felt another excruciating pain in her heart.

On the surface, though, Yvonne remained smiling as she gazed at her daughter gently. This was indeed her fault, as she had rushed everything through.

"Weren't you the one who said you loved having a Daddy more?" Yvonne smiled and said, "I sent you to his place. So, shouldn't you be thanking me instead? Why are you still so unhappy about it?"

"I never said that I wouldn't want my Mommy anymore after having a Daddy." Maria wasn't pleased with how Yvonne had rebuked what she said. So, she threw a fit and said, "You were the one who made me lose you after I was able to have a Daddy, making me choose between the both of you. Yvonne Attwood, have you ever considered how cruel you are? Why must you always let me grow up in a single family? Why am I so unlucky to be born as your daughter?"

Yvonne's heart tightened while the smile on her face became even more gentle as she said, "My child, thank you so much for wanting to be with me. If that's the case, then why are you still being so angry? Stop being pretentious and come over to hug Mommy then."

There was a stark difference between Yvonne's enthusiasm and Maria's apathy.

She instantly dampened Yvonne's hope. "Don't be so enthusiastic. I hate the way you're smiling now. That was my intention a year ago, but now I just want my Daddy. So, feel free to stay wherever you wish to."

Yvonne's heart felt like it had been stabbed again.

She felt extremely uncomfortable, but she still forced herself to smile.

"Really? Then, why are you still here to look for me?"

"My Daddy asked me to come here." Maria said, "My Dad didn't say anything else apart from asking me to come over."

"Where's your Daddy?" Yvonne looked over to the door subconsciously.

Could Zachary be downstairs instead?

"Stop looking, no matter how much you widen your eyes, he won't appear now either." Maria immediately pointed out.

Yvonne was suspicious. "Then, did your Daddy just send you over on your own without confirming whether I was at home?"

Yvonne felt a bit scared after thinking about it. She thought of how careless Zachary was to leave such a young child on her own outside.

"Didn't you leave me in the kindergarten back then before running away on your own? You weren't even sure if my Daddy would have accepted me before you abandoned me like that, and then you disappeared without a trace. Comparatively, my Daddy is so much better than you, as he sent me here personally." As Maria spoke, her eyes slowly reddened. Thus, it made her look extremely pitiful.

She wanted to cry, but she held back her tears.

All of this made her look even more pitiful.

Yvonne's heart trembled. As she looked at Maria, her heart tightened and she clasped her hands together.

When she left Maria in the kindergarten, she was certain that Zachary would definitely take the child away, especially considering how she was Zachary's child.

Even if a DNA test were to be conducted, it would simply serve as a confirmation that Zachary and Maria were related. So, she wasn't afraid of any investigations. Moreover, she wasn't in a rush to leave the country back then, not to mention how she had people looking after her to ensure that Zachary would pick her up. She only left the country after ensuring everything would be well taken care of.

Nevertheless, she didn't want to explain any of that.

Her child had already confirmed she was intent on abandoning her, and her behavior back then had certainly confirmed her suspicions.

There was nothing Yvonne could say about it.

Maria frowned slightly.

"You have nothing else to say, right?"
