Yvonne looked at Philip's portrait. It was as if she was facing Philip, her heart filled with pain.
"Is it because of my father?" Zachary pointed to his father's portrait and said, "Because you promised him to break up with me, so even after you gave birth to Maria, you still refused to tell me. Is this all because you felt sorry towards my father?"
Yvonne nodded.
"What about me?" Zachary pointed to himself.
Yvonne's eyes widened, feeling great pain in her heart.
How could she not feel pain in her heart when being questioned like this? She pitied Zachary's suffering.
She was also saddened by the hard life she had to go through these past few years.
Yvonne took a deep breath, "Sorry, Zachary."
"For the sake of others, do you not even have the courage to defend your love?" Zachary looked at her and said word by word.
Yvonne pursed her lips tightly. Her voice was a bit choked up. She looked at him with teary eyes and said, "Zachary, I didn't do this for others. I just really didn't know what to do at that time. I just wanted what was best for you."
"I wasn't f*cking good at all." After saying that, Zachary stood up.
He was afraid that he couldn't control himself.
He knew that Yvonne wasn't in the wrong.
He wanted to blame his father, but his father had passed away. This had become his lifelong regret.
He wanted to blame Yvonne, but he knew that this would be unfair for Yvonne.
The moment he saw his father's portrait, he felt his blood boil.
He was distraught.
He turned around and left.
Yvonne stared blankly at his back as he left. Her heart shattered.
After Zachary left.
Yvonne's tears poured out uncontrollably.
She cried for a long time.
Silent tears streamed down her face.
When she finally calmed down a little, Yvonne whispered, "Mr. Lowe, no, father, I should call you father now. Let me introduce myself. I am Yvonne,
Zachary's wife."
Phillip looked peaceful with his refined elegance and was full of confidence in the portrait.
Yvonne continued, "Many years ago, you told me if I wanted what was best for Zachary, I should let him study abroad. You didn't want me to be a hindrance to his future. I also felt the same."
"I left him, but there wasn't a day that I lived well. I always thought that my departure was good for him. But when I saw him in so much pain, I doubted my decision."
"I don't know if it was right for me to leave."
"Now, I'm back. I had to come back. My daughter, your granddaughter, needs her father, and I need Zachary even more."
"Dad, I'm sorry. I didn't keep my promise to stay away from him."
"In the future, I won't be able to do that either."
"I want to stay with him for the rest of my life, and I will never leave Zachary again."
"Please forgive me and don't worry. I will try harder to be with Zachary and help him in any way I can. I will be happy with him for the rest of our lives."
Yvonne took a deep breath. Her teary eyes were filled with determination as she paid her respects.
Only then did she stand up, take a deep look at Philip's portrait, and leave.
Her legs were a little numb.
She staggered and walked out of the hall.
The mansion of the Lowe family was horrifyingly massive.
Yvonne got lost after she left the main hall.
She could not find the guesthouse that she had previously stayed in. She was embarrassed.
At this moment, the butler came over and asked, "Madam, do you need any help?"
"I can't find Zachary," Yvonne spoke in a rather embarrassed manner.
"Young Master Zachary went to his residence. Please follow me," the butler said.
Yvonne was taken aback. "He's not in the guesthouse we stayed in previously?"
"Yes, he's in that one," the butler said.
