"What?"
Celeste was shocked by Cindy's words.
Her eyes widened as she stared at Cindy, dumbfounded and lost for words. She did not expect Cindy to take the initiative and ask for Gary's number.
All of a sudden, she was frightened.
How could she not be afraid?
Given Cindy and Gary's temperaments, as long as they were talking to each other, they would definitely have a very unpleasant talk.
No, that couldn't happen.
She couldn't allow her aunt to call Gary. She didn't want her aunt to find out about her relationship with Gary.
They had just argued this morning, so she didn't know how to face him.
She was worried that Gary would say something unpleasant and that Cindy would say something unsuitable. All in all, stopping them was the next best thing.
"Aunt, you can't call him," Celeste shook her head and quickly came up with a random excuse, "You have no reason to."
"And he has a reason to call Liam?" Cindy shot back.
"He's Liam's friend," Celeste tried to argue, "It's normal forthem to call each other."
Seeing that Celeste was trying to stop her, Liam quickly interjected, "Miss White, I'm friends with Gary and Ernest. They are classmates of Celeste, so it's normal for him to call me and ask about her. I don't think it's a big deal. However, if you call him, it'll be a bit abrupt."
Cindy knitted her brows and ignored Liam's words. She shot a sharp glare at Celeste.
"Celeste, why are you so nervous?"
Upon hearing Cindy's words, Celeste bit her lips and looked up at Cindy stubbornly without saying a word.
"Or do you think that I'm rude? I have been in the entertainment industry for so many years, so do you think I'm unaware of the art of speaking?" As she said this, Cindy swept her gaze of dissatisfaction towards Liam since he was helping Celeste.
Upon seeing this, Liam was also slightly stunned. He quickly tried to laugh it off, "Miss White, we all know you're skilled, but let's not make a big fuss over it."
"Liam, do you really think I shouldn't make the call?" Cindy looked at Liam and asked, "Or are you just helping Celeste?"
Liam didn't expect Cindy to be so sharp. He quickly smiled, "Miss White, I really don't think it's a good idea to make a phone call so rashly. If you're worried, I'll talk to Gary about it."
"Celeste won't call him, yet she doesn't let me call him," Cindy's red lips curled up and she snorted softly, "Don't you think it's strange?"
Of course, Liam could sense that it was strange, but he could tell that something must have happened to Celeste since she looked so embarrassed.
In any case, Cindy shouldn't have forced the truth out of Celeste like this.
After all, Celeste was only a sixteen-year-old.
Liam didn't dare to say anything, so he played dumb, "Ms. White, Celeste is still young, so it's natural for her to feel afraid and worried about the news. After all, it still hasn't died down yet. You want her to call him, but she probably feels embarrassed to not do so."
Cindy looked at Liam for a while and glanced at Celeste. She didn't say anything to them. She picked up the sandwich that she threw on the plate and continued to eat.
The fact that Cindy had calmed down instantaneously made Celeste a little scared.
As expected, Cindy was the queen of acting. To be able to change her mood as she pleased meant that acting had become an integral part of her life.
Liam pushed the milk in front of Cindy and offered, "Miss White, if you don't drink the milk soon, it'll be cold."
"Alright, then I won't call Gary," Cindy said, "Liam, I believe in your judgment."
"Okay," Liam smiled.
Celeste looked up at Cindy and secretly heaved a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, she didn't call him.
If Cindy called, she really wouldn't know what to do.
Ten minutes later.
After Cindy finished her meal, she turned to Celeste and said, "Have you finished? I'll have someone bring you to the hairstylist after you finish."
"I can go by myself," Celeste said in a squeaky voice.
"What if someone finds you out when you go by yourself?"
"The chance of me being discovered is higher if you come along," Celeste said, "Both you and Liam are public figures, so I think it's more dangerous to be with you in public."
Cindy didn't waste any time talking to her. She simply stood up and walked to the door.
Celeste frowned and glanced at Liam subconsciously.
She was trying to ask Liam for help.
Liam paused for a moment and asked, "Miss White, why don't you let the hairstylist come to my house?"
"No," Cindy shook her head and refused, "The hairstylist is not safe either. Who knows what kind of person they'll be? What if he betrays you for money?"
It was not impossible for such a thing to happen.
